Sophia’s Revenge – Chapter 55

Xander’s POV

I decided that late tonight we would be leaving and trying to find out where my daughter was. Kane was off getting some warriors together. We just wanted to find them. I have worked with Emily and Trevor and they both agreed that they have a very strong cloaking spell on their location and that it’s possible that is why it’s not on the map. They think when they drew up the map, they already had places the cloaking spell on it and so it’s not on the map either. My dad went through some old boxes and found some really old maps in there. We were able to locate two mountains that weren’t on my maps. We were going to check them both out and then go home.

Kane came back with the warriors that he selected. I had a talk with Luke and let him know what was going on and not let anyone else know.

“I am going to let Sophia know that we have to go on some type of mission and that we should be back tomorrow.”

“No, she is sleeping, and I don’t want her to know.”

“Excuse me, you’re not going to tell our mate goodbye. You may be an a*****e, but that doesn’t mean I have to be.”

“Kane, don’t make me do it. I will use an Alpha command if you try to go.”

“You wouldn’t?”

“I would and not think twice about it.”

“I really f*****g hate you right now!”

He had every reason to hate me. I even hate me. I am just not ready to tell her. Jax is talking to me less and less because I won’t go see Sophia or talk to her. I knew it was a mistake, but I didn’t know how to tell her. I know I told her kids didn’t matter to me, but they do. I can’t let her mother keep her. I don’t know if she is being taken care of. I know if Kane was in this position, he would be doing the same thing. I just hope that Sophia will forgive me one more time. After this I will be the mate she deserves.

It was time to go, and I met everyone going out in the field we agreed on. We all had small backpacks with some food and a change of clothes, but we would be traveling in wolf form. I made Miles stay here. I only wanted to see if we could find it. That’s it.

After explaining our mission, we all shifted. Trevor came with us, and he climbed on my back. He wouldn’t have been able to keep up and he tracked the maps for us.

We traveled for about five hours before we took a break. We all shifted back and had some snacks. We were about an hour from the base of the first mountain. Let’s get going everyone. I want to make it there soon. They all g*****d but got up and shifted back.

An hour later, we were standing on flat ground, but it should have been the base of the mountain.

“What the hell?” asked a warrior.

“There is a cloaking spell on this mountain. I can sense magic. I can remove it, but if I do, they will for sure know where, here.”

“No, don’t do that. I want to check the other mountain and see what is going on there.”

We all turned around and took off the way we came. We were about forty-five minutes into our trip back when I picked up an unfamiliar scent.

“Kane, do you smell that?” I mind linked him.

“Ya, we have company.”

We kept going the way we came but didn’t make it very far before three large grey wolves jumped out in front of us. They were slowly approaching us even though we outnumbered them. They kept getting closer and then some more magically appeared.

“Trevor, can you do anything to help us? I don’t want a fight.”

“I am working on a cloaking spell. When I say go, mind link everyone to run.” He had leaned down and whispered to me.

“OK, run now, as fast as you can.”

I mind linked my guys and told them to run, that Trevor had put up a cloaking spell and to get back to safety as fast as we could. They all took off running but nobody could see where they were, and we kept running into each other and that’s when one of their wolves reached out with his claws and swiped into the air. I don’t know if they could still see us or if he was hoping to get lucky, but they got Kane.

“Xan, his claws got me right in the neck. It burns and it’s bleeding badly. We have to get out of here now.”

“Can you keep going?”

“I don’t know, I am dizzy, and this burns so badly.”

“Trevor, Kane is in trouble, they got him in the neck. What can you do?”

“It’s going to be risky but I have to drop the cloaking spell and open up a portal. The problem is the portal is going to take us to the closest open portal and I don’t know where that is.”

“Can your mom open a portal? I can mind link my mom to have her open one?”

“Yes, tell me when it’s done.”

“Mom, I need you to find Emily now, and have her open a portal. Kane got hurt and we’re being chased. We need to get back right now.”

“I will go find her and let you know when it’s done.”

We ran for another ten minutes. “Kane, how are you doing?”

“I can’t do it much longer. I am having a hard time breathing and seeing black spots.”

” We’re working on it. Where are you?”

I got no response from him. s**t, this is bad. This is all my fault. If I just had some patience, my best friend would be OK, and my mate would be talking to me.

“Mom, is it ready? Kane, is not doing good?” MOM!”

“Yes, it’s ready and Doc will be here and so is Sophia.”

“Tell her to go away!”

“Trevor, it’s ready. What do we need to do?”

“Tell them I am dropping the cloaking spell and they will see a white light. They need to run into the white light, and it will shoot them to the other end of the portal.”

I sent my guys a mind link telling them this and told Trevor to drop the cloaking spell. The second he did that, a bright white light appeared about 100 feet in front of us. I turned to find Kane and he was lying in a pool of b***d not moving. Trevor jumped off my back and I shifted back, and we ran to him.

My dad showed up there also to help lift him up. Between the three of us, we were able to pick him up and we ran towards the white light. We had slightly lost the wolves that were chasing us, but they quickly ran towards the white light. We made it there just in time. As soon as we stepped in, we were pulled up into a vortex. It lasted all but three seconds and we hit the ground hard, piling on top of each other.

I stood up and looked around for Kane. He was lying unconscious on the ground about five feet from me. I ran over to him and threw my hands on his wound trying to stop the bleeding. Doc and Sophia were right behind me.

“Xander, remove your hands, so I can the extent of his wound.”

I removed my hands and he and Sophia kneeled down to him. Sophia beat him to it and placed her hands on his wound.

“Sophia, move your hands I need to help him.”

She didn’t move. She closed her eyes and just kept applying pressure. A light green glow started to come from her hands, but she didn’t remove them. The green light went from a light glow to a bright one. I started to say something, but Trevor stopped me.

“She is healing him, she is powerful. Let her do her job.”

We all just stood there watching her. She was amazing. She continued to emit a light from her for about ten minutes until she finally let go. When she did, you could see that his neck was fully healed. You couldn’t even see a scar. She stood up and faced me before she stumbled a few steps and fell to the ground unconscious. I ran to her and scooped her up and just held her. I could feel her heartbeat and it was strong.

“She used a lot of power and energy. She will be fine, she just needs to rest.” Emily said.

“Why don’t we get both of our patients over to the hospital, so I can run some tests on them and make sure that they are ok,” Doc said.

I carried Sophia while my dad and Trevor took Kane. Once we got there, they were both placed on a gurney and taken to the back.

“Jax, what did we do?

“We didn’t do anything?”

“We did, if I had listened to my dad and just waited a little longer Kane wouldn’t be hurt and Sophia wouldn’t be unconscious. This is all our fault. I have to make this right with both of them or I will lose them both.”

“What do you suggest?”

“I don’t know yet, but the first thing I have to do is tell Sophia the truth when she is awake.”

Doc came out about an hour later to let us know that they were both stable. They had to give Kane a b***d transfusion and Sophia was just sleeping.
