Sophia’s Revenge – Chapter 56

Sophia’s POV

I woke up lying in a hospital bed. I had Kane on one side and Xander on the other. They were both sound asleep and looked like hell. I wanted to wake Kane to see how he is, but he needs his rest.

“Stella, how long have we been out?”

“Two days. You used all of our energy when you healed Kane.”

“I am sorry, I didn’t mean to. We just had to save him. He looked so bad. He had lost so much b***d and was as white as a ghost.”

“Girl, I never said I was mad about it.”

I rolled over so my back was to Xander. I was so mad at him; I couldn’t even look at him. He is keeping something from me and, whatever this stupid mission was, Kane has almost got killed. I wanted to break his nose all over again or maybe throat punch him. I’m not sure. I closed my eyes again and welcomed sleep.

“Beautiful, are you going to wake up? I want to see your beautiful eyes. Please wake up.”

I didn’t reply to him, but I did open my eyes and looked at Kane. The second our eyes met he broke out in a huge smile. He leaned in and kissed my forehead.

“Good morning baby girl. How do you feel?”

“I am fine, how do you feel?”

“I am all good thanks to you.”

“Beautiful, do you want breakfast?”

I rolled over to look at Xander. I didn’t want to deal with him yet, but I knew it was going to be now as he was right in front of me. I could tell it was going to end badly.

“How about some food? You must be starving; you’ve been asleep for two days.” He asked.

“I hate you! You have no right to talk to me like that right now. The only thing keeping us linked is the marks on our necks. You don’t love me. You think of me as convenience. You need a Luna and here I am. You need a quick lay and here I am. You have some major problems, and you push me out and won’t even talk to me and you treat me like garbage. So no, I don’t want breakfast from you. I don’t want anything from you. You can walk out that door and never come back and I wouldn’t care.”

By the time I was done telling him this I was sobbing as Stella was hurting and crying in my head. I rolled away from him again, looking at Kane who had tears in his eyes. I tried to smile at him, but it failed me.

Xander came behind me and got into bed with me. “Kane, can you please give us a minute?”

“Sophia, I will be right outside if you need me.”

Xander pulled me closer to him. You couldn’t even get a piece of paper between us. It was like we were molded together. I continued to sob. I won’t let him treat me like that.

“Beautiful, I am so sorry. I can’t tell you how wrong I am about everything. I screwed up so badly and almost lost Kane and I am losing you. I can’t lose you. You are my life. I do love you so much. I thought in my head that I was protecting you, but I was just hurting you instead.”

I didn’t say anything, I just laid there listening to him breathing and inhaling my scent. It was calming him down. I had to know what he was protecting me from.

“Xander, why? What did you think that I needed protecting from? Protecting in a way that you have made me have feelings about you that are not nice.”

“I can’t do this right now. Please just give me a little more time. I am begging you.”

“No, I want an answer now.”

We just laid there not saying a word. Stella was still whimpering in the back of my head. She was thinking the worst and she was still a little mad at me for what I said.

“The other day we had a few wolves that came into our territory, and we were able to capture them and bring them in for questioning. One of them was a kid. We took him upstairs and fed him. He asked for asylum in exchange for information.”

“This is what you were keeping from me.”

“I am not done. He had very valuable information for us but also dropped a couple of bombshells on us. His stepmother is Jules.”

“Why would he turn on his family and are you sure we can trust him?”

“He hasn’t given us any bad information yet and he has willingly done everything that we have asked of him. He turned on his family because his family hates him. They have no reason to. They send him on these missions in hopes that he doesn’t come back alive. He isn’t beat or anything like that, he’s just ignored and forced to go on missions instead of school. He says that his dad doesn’t want to hand the pack over to him.”

“So, what are these bombshells that he dropped?”

“Well, when Jules showed up after rejecting me. Oh goddess, I don’t know how to tell you this next part.”

“Like ripping off a band aide. Just get it over with.”

“She was pregnant, and I am ninety-nine percent sure the child is mine.”

“How are you so sure that the child is yours?”

” Pictures and timing.”

“You have pictures of her?”

“They’re on Miles phone.”

“Why didn’t you just tell me, what held you back?”

“Because I know you want a pup of your own and Kane and I would do anything to give you that and there is nothing we can do about it and then to tell you that I have one with someone else. I didn’t want you to hate me for that.”

“Xander, I know you had a past before me and it wasn’t like this was some random, she-wolf. She was your mate. You thought you would be spending the rest of your life with her. She meant something to you. I would never be angry about that. What I am angry with is the way you treated me. You treated me like I was nothing but a pest that was in the way. I have been treated horribly since my parents died and you are supposed to love me, not push me away. I will be there for you for everything. Well, unless you cheat, then I will just cut your d**k off. I wish you had told me sooner. I could have helped. No more secrets please.”

“I am so sorry, and I promise no more secrets. I love you.”

“Kane, come back in here.” I mind linked him.

He quickly came in and walked to the other side of the bed and crawled in, although I am not sure how we all fit in there. I was the middle part of a hot man sandwich, and it was heaven.
