Chapter 35: The substitute bride

"What is it?" That piqued his interest and so he couldn't help but ask, this was what he wanted to know, or else he will not let her leave the house, not like that.

"How would you feel if you found out something about me?" She asked. She knew that she needed the courage to ask him this question. Today, she was going to reveal something that she had hidden away from him, she wasn't sure how dr she could go with revealing everything to him but one thing was for sure she intended to make him see who she was, and then perhaps he will show her who he was as well. Hannah felt that this would bring them closer and he would get to tell her who G was and what appointments they often had at night. She was glad that it was just him and he was really involved in anything out of the ordinary.

"Fine out something like what?" He asked. He must have felt that she was onto something, this must be what was bothering her and he has to give her an honest answer.

"What if you find out something big about me, how would you feel?"

"It depends on what it is, what am I going to find out? But then again, I won't get mad at you, I promise you"

Those words reassured her that she needed to go forward with the questions, he was not going to be mad at her for lying and deceiving him, he was going to understand that she didn't have much choice back then and now it seemed as though she didn't have too. "How would you feel if I had been a fake bride?"

Shawn was delighted, a smile formed on his face, he was glad that she wanted to confide in him and tell him the truth about her and so he had to keep his promise.

"I won't get mad at you, I already promised you so don't hold back anything from me"

Right there, she knew that she had to give him more than what she was revealing. This was a crucial part of her life and a lot was at stake. One of the things that was at stake was the fact that she was scared of what he might do to her, and there was her mother. She also wondered if Shawn would push her away and decide to how with his real bride; her sister Jessica. That will make her devastated and she will have to ensure all that hardship watching the both of them from afar hey Cozy with each other. Shawn has become a part of her and at this point, she wasn't sure that she wanted to let him or lose him to anyone else.

"Yes, do you promise to listen to me and not do anything afterward"

"What exactly an I going to do? Most time, it is good to reveal something about yourself, it is what makes the relationship keep going, secrets will Destroy anything that we have so don't hold back anything and tell me, whatever is running through your mind right now, you are not alone" he held her hand, gently and soft, looking into her eyes. "I know that you are worried that if I found out what happened, I would get mad at you and might even do something stupid, but I am not that sort of person and you came clean, I didn't hear it from anyone and so why will I hurt you"

He was right, over the past weeks that they have lived together, he hasn't given her a reason to doubt his words and he hasn't even hurt her, not even when she questioned him nor when he saw her with Mike at that party. Shawn remained and she had got to trust to make this day would come out perfectly eventually. He wasn't a monster and had proved that to her so many times. Yes, she doesn't know much about his background but he was one of the most honest fellows that she has set her eyes on.

"There is something that you must know about me"

"What is it?" He arched up his brow at her hoping that she would push forward with it. He had a clue where the conversation was leading to but he had to play the pretend game in order not you make her unaware. She wouldn't like it if he was going to surprise her in that manner.

She blinked her eyes, he could still feel her hesitation to let him in and tell him everything, she must have a wrong judgment of him in her mind that was pushing her to keep quiet about the whole stuff.

"I give you my word that my perception of you will not change and nothing will ever change between us, you will always be Hannah Lockwood the woman that I married, and I will always be Shawn"

"Thank you" she whispered still studying him closely, she had already made up her mind on what to do after they ended their conversation. But what she doesn't know is that Shawn had set his eyes on her a long time ago and that he knows more than she could tell. Not that he knew everything regarding her Marriage, he doesn't. However, his eye has been on her for a while now.

If Shawn changes his mind and decides to humiliate her or get furious at her for deceiving and leading him to believe that she was not what she claimed to be, she is going to choose one thing, it has been lingering in her mind since she made up her mind that enough with this secret, she was going to go ahead and tell him everything that he needed to know about her.

"You can trust me, Hannah"

"Of course I trust you, you have never given me any reason to doubt you or anything, if anything all you have given me are many reasons to trust you more" This was going to eventually end up ripping her heart apart if he goes back on his words and things does not go the way that she expected it go.

"Then tell me what it is that is lingering in your mind, I know that there is something that you want to say to me, what is it? You have my attention"

"It's about myself"

"What about yourself" He was getting tired of running around in circles with her and knew that they had to get past this for other things to take place. But then again, he tried to understand her, this must be hard for her as well, she must have been thinking otherwise of him and that is one thing that was stopping her from going ahead and telling him everything that he wanted to know about her.

"I am hiding things about myself, this Marriage, it was never meant to happen"

"What do you mean?"

"I was never meant to be your bride, I am not the one who is supposed to be sitting here eating, laughing and even making out with you"

"What are you saying, you are not making any sense"

"What I am trying to say is that I am a substitute bride"
