The Blind Luna
Chapter 28

SABRINA SANTIAGO

It had been a week since Kai let the people know about our marriage that was coming up in a few days. Ever since that day, my dream has increased and sleeping has been hard for me. Kai’s mother was totally against the idea of me becoming the Luna of their pack. I had just woken up as I made my way to the kitchen but halted when I heard voices there. Once again, his mother was here to talk him out of getting married to me.

I hid close to the door as I tried to eavesdrop on their conversation, not like I wanted to, but they seemed to be talking about me and that made me curious. “Why choose her? If she ends up becoming me Luna, so many things may happen,” I heard his mother say.

“She is the one mother and nothing you say would change that,” he said. “Just hear me out, this isn’t what your father would want, a mother knows what is right or wrong for her children. What is with you raising another Alpha’s baby?” she told Kai.

“Mom, I think it’s high time you left. I can’t allow you to tell me what to do,” he barked at his mother. “Kai, how dare you talk to me this way? Being the Alpha of this pack gives you no right to talk to me this way,” she said angrily. “If you want me to sit and have little respect left for you, you better let me rule my pack the way I want and don’t try to interfere, I have something to take care of mom,” he muttered as I watched him stag away.

I watched as his mother left after him. I walked downstairs to still notice her presence. I thought she had left. “What did I tell you to do, you stupid blind rogue?” she said and I instantly froze in shock. “I did nothing, why don’t you let Kai and I be?” I answered back for the first time and it felt so good.

“You’re no good for my son, you aren’t a member of this pack, and nothing around here including my son is yours,” she said before holding on to my hands tightly. I could feel her bruises digging into my nails, the pain was almost blinding. She used her second hand to wrap my neck as she began to choke me as I coughed to breathe.

“You’ve done nothing but cause huge trouble between my son and I. Was it your plan to do this for your parents? Was it an advantage to get to me through my son? You think you can just come here and do anything you want? I think I should rip your throat apart so everything can end,” she muttered, and I was nearly on the verge of death.

“I k_now know nothing of what y__oo,” I tried to say but kept choking.

I felt her claws dig into my skin and the stream of something liquid beneath my skin told me I was bleeding. I was struggling for air and my vision began to blur. The grip left my neck when somebody was being shoved hard on the ground. “How dare you mother,” The voice of Kai muttered.

“You’re my mother but you leave me no choice but to arrest you for touching the future Luna, I have had enough,” I heard him say as I tried to find air.

“You dare not,” she muttered.

“Watch me,” he muttered.

KAI POV

“Kai, she is still our mother. What do you think people would say?” Lisa said?

“Shut the f**k up Lisa, look what she did to Sabrina,” I muttered, trying to calm myself down, but it wasn’t working. I can’t even imagine the state of pain my Mate was in. I entered my office before telling the guards not to let anyone in. I had ended up throwing things away and right now everywhere was a whole mess. I had punched the wall so many times and at the same time smashed so many things. Even with my bruised and bloodied knuckles, I didn’t care.

I fell on the floor breathing heavily, trying my best to hold myself from doing something I might regret. I knew I needed to calm down and not show my weakness to Sabrina, “I need a drink,” I mind-linked my Beta, I needed someone to drink with. I paced around the room waiting for him to get a drink.

Just then the door opened and Sabrina stood with her neck and hands neatly bandaged. I felt my cheeks and chest hurt from seeing her this way, she was going through all this because of me. “What are you doing here?” I asked as I watched her stroll towards me before a bright smile spread across her lips, the anger I felt began to fade away.

She said nothing before wrapping her arms around my waist. “The beta said you needed a drink and that you weren’t ever in control when you drank alcohol. I’m the source of why you are angry and why your office is in a mess. What do you want me to do so you can calm down,” she said in between hugs.

“You did nothing. My mother shouldn’t have hurt you,” I said.

“You shouldn’t go with what you said earlier on,” she said. “What was that?” I asked because I knew I had said a lot of things but right now I didn’t know what she was talking about. “About arresting your mother,” she muttered, making me stunned. I thought she was going to be pleased.

“Don’t worry, I’m just locking her in the packhouse until our wedding! I can’t let her hurt you,” I said, hugging her tightly before leaving a peck on her head. “Promise me that you won’t be harsh on her, I shouldn’t be the one coming between the love you shared,” she muttered.

“I promise, how do you feel?” I asked.

“It hurts but with you, I feel good,” she said, making me grin before pecking her cheeks.
