Chapter 43

I knew the movie was getting close to ending and I was getting hungry. I figured Rose would be getting hungry too. Her appetite has increased as she is getting closer to gaining her wolf. She is starting to eat more so that her body has the energy it needs to shift. It’s not easy on the body. I decided that I was gonna have the kitchen staff bring up lunch for us.

As the movie ends I hear Rose’s stomach growl out. She starts to get up and get ready to get dressed to leave the room. I let her know that I had already asked the staff to bring lunch up to us.

“Oh okay,” she says to me as she crawls back onto the bed. She snuggles back up to me and grabs the remote to turn on another movie.

“Do you care what I put on?” She asks me and I shake my head no. Just as she starts the movie, I hear a knock on the door.

“I’ll go get that, it’s gonna be lunch.” I say to her and get up from the bed. I get to the door and open it and I grab the tray from Opal. I thank her and she walks away. I shut the door and head back to the bed.

“Lunch has arrived,” I say to her. As I set the tray on the bed. She sits up and moves closer to it.

I sit down next to her and lift the lid off of the plates. “Yum,” She says as she looks at what is in front of us.

I smile at her. “Looks like they worked hard on this.” I say as I look at all the food. We have chicken salad sandwiches, fresh fruit cups, and some crackers with cheese. She picks up a sandwich and takes a bite.

“This is amazing.” She says as she takes another bite.

We both continue to eat in silence. Before long all the food is gone and I pick up the tray and go to place it outside our door. As I open the door I step back, as Kat is outside the door with a tray and is about to knock.

“Oh, hi Ash. I know Rose has been through a lot and wants some space from everything. But I thought that she would like to have these. I was just planning to knock and leave them with you. But I’ll just take that and you can take these. And I’ll be on my way.” She says to me. So we trade trays.

“Mom, please come in for a minute. I’m not trying to hide from you all. I just need a little space. From everything. So what did you bring me?” Rose says. So I open the door wider for Kat to come in all the way. She smiles as she passes me. She sets the empty tray down on the table. She heads to the bed and gives Rose a hug.

I walk over and hand the tray to Rose. She smiles instantly. She lifts the lid off of the tray. “Oatmeal chocolate chip cookies,” she says excitedly picking one up and taking a bite.

They smell amazing. I reach for one, and take a bite. “This is one of the most delicious cookies I have had in awhile. Who made these?” I ask Kat. She smiles at me.

“This is my recipe. I made them; they are Rose’s favorite. I thought it would help her to feel a little better with everything that is going on.” Kat says to me.

“Well thank you. These are great. Could you teach the staff here how to make them?” I ask her and she smiles at me and nods her head.

“I already did that while I was making them. I made enough for others to have as well.” She says as she grabs a cookie.

We eat the cookies and watch the movie that Rose picked out. Once the cookies are done. Kat cleans up and gives Rose a hug.

“I will talk to you both later. Enjoy your time together, before all the training starts. You won’t have much time to yourselves after that.” Kat says as she leaves the room.

I look over at Rose and see that she is starting to fall asleep. I move closer to her, and pull her over to snuggle up to me. She places her head on my chest and sighs.

“ I suppose she is right. With the training, and the war that is coming. We won’t have much time to be by ourselves for a little while.” Rose says to me.

“That may be so, but we have the rest of our lives for that. I am yours and you are mine. We will get through all of this and be okay.” I say to her and k**s the top of her head.

She lifts her head and looks at me. “I’m feeling really tired. Can I have a k**s before I fall asleep?” She asks.

“You are my mate. You don’t have to ask me for a k**s when you want one. You can just k**s me.” I say to her as I lean my face closer to her. But I stop before I get to her lips. I want her to k**s me, like she wants.

When she presses her lips against mine, I feel the sparks as they dance on my lips. I love this feeling and will never get tired of it. She pulls away and we smile at each other.

“Sleep well my sleeping beauty. I will stay here next to you.” I tell her as she snuggles back up to me.
