The Fall Of Lucian
Chapter 16

That night Deisy couldn’t sleep, she was so restless, something inside her told her that something bad was happening. The albino girl tossed and turned in bed with her eyes wide open, until, tired of tossing and turning without being able to fall asleep, she stood up.

The young woman leaves the room and walks to the lower part of the house, where she finds Ria drinking some water. The she-wolf lived in her residence as well.

-My alpha, what are you doing up at this hour?

-I can’t sleep.

-Are you worried about something?

-I think so…

She herself didn’t know what was wrong, it was a worry she kept inside that bothered her.

-I’m sure everything will be fine,” Deisy smiles at the young woman, but she wasn’t so sure about it. I’ll go back to bed, you should do the same.

-I’ll be there in a little while, you go get some rest.

Deisy stands alone in the kitchen looking out of the window, from there she could see the cells. She bites her lips, then brings her hand to her frantically beating chest.

She denies, and makes her way to the back exit of the house. Dragging on her dressing gown, the albino walks to the dungeon. The guard opens the front door, and she enters.

She takes a couple of steps until she reaches the stranger’s cell, who is asleep. Why did she go there? What made her do it? Deisy frowns, looks down, and then makes a pretense of leaving.

-Why are you leaving? -She looked up and saw those grey eyes glowing in the darkness.

The rumbling in her chest drove her mad, why did she feel that way?

-Why did you come? -She blinked, coming back to reality.

-I wanted to know if you had regained your memory.

-No, I haven’t. I still don’t know who I am.

-What a pity.

-Would you please let go of my feet?

-No.

They were both silent, which made the alpha uncomfortable. Since he kept looking at her, but didn’t speak. He’d rather she said something to him than watch her like that.

-You’re not giving me good hospitality. I’ve done nothing wrong, you told me so yourself. You found me half dead who knows where. You can’t keep me as a prisoner.

-I don’t trust you.

-Well, at least that’s something,” he looks back up at the ceiling.

Deisy swallows and ventures into the cell without understanding the reasons for his actions.

-In that case, you should send me to that other place you mentioned. I feel much better already.

She blinks several times, then looks at the sheet covering his wounds. They were no longer painted with b***d. She approaches the human, and discovers his body… Deisy notices that he was no longer bleeding, and that the stitching the matriarch did on him was taking effect.

-Your wounds are healing!

-Those infusions that old woman gives me are disgusting, but I think it’s helped me a lot.

The albino dares to touch the human’s stitches, it was an extremely large and deep wound, how could he have been saved from that attack? She inspects the bite; she bites her lips as her brain was thinking something crazy.

It looked like a wolf bite, from a very big wolf. It followed the path of the stitches, and the stitches went all the way to the intimate part of the human. The albino stopped her hand and swallowed.

-It’s a very large wound.

-She sees him, and notices that he was staring at her. At least I know I won’t die.

-What were you doing in these woods? It’s forbidden to walk in these grounds, don’t you remember that?

The human’s expression was one of confusion, his eyes were not lying, he was speaking the truth. He didn’t know who he was, and that was a problem.

-I need to know who gave you this wound, you need to remember what happened.

-I can’t do that, I can’t remember. Understand, I don’t know who I am. If you need to know what happened to me, you can imagine how I am.

She flattens her lips and lowers her gaze, she knew she was pushing; but she couldn’t wait any longer.

-You have to make an effort to regain your memory, whatever attacked you is out there, and maybe it wants to finish what it started.

-Are you suggesting that someone is trying to kill me?

-I can’t be sure; it could be a coincidence that you were attacked, or it could be that it did it with intent. For that reason, I am pressing you to remember. What were you doing in these lands?

She looks at him firmly, and he feels dejected by all those words. He began to feel anxious, accelerated, his thoughts began to churn in his head, filling him with frustration and annoyance.

He began to see images, he closed and opened his eyes abruptly, and his body began to move every time those images came into his field of vision.

-What’s wrong with you? -Deisy asks as she sees him grumbling roughly. Hey, what’s wrong with you? -She dares to rest both hands on his shoulders to help him come to his senses.

-Nooooo,” the human yells, to which she violently pulls away.

Deisy watches him from afar, and notices how he begins to calm down. She frowns and moves a little closer when she notices that his breathing has slowed.

-It was a wolf, a huge wolf…” the human blurts out, which she stops in her tracks. It was a wolf!

The albino was stunned at the words, she didn’t know what to say; the human looked stunned, and very scared.

-What are you saying? -he whispers.

-I saw a wolf, its teeth were huge, and those eyes were so full of hate.

-A wolf?! What colour was that wolf?

-His teeth-were huge… pointed, murderous.

-That wolf was the one who attacked you? -By this time, the albino was standing next to the human again.

-Yes, he attacked me.

Her theory was true, a wolf had caused the damage. However, Deisy was still surprised at how lucky the human was. With that bite, he was as good as dead.

It was confirmed that he was not a werewolf, plus his b***d had no wolf traces in it. He was 100% human.

-Listen to me and answer me, what colour was that wolf that attacked you? -The man blinked and it was as if he came to. Do you know?

-It was very dark, I couldn’t really see what colour it was. B-but I know it was huge. I’ve never seen a wolf that big in my life, there’s no such thing! Or is there? -he looks at her for an answer.

And so far so good, if she didn’t tell him the colour of the wolf, she couldn’t know if it was Lucian that had been on her land. There were also the wild wolves, but those were of average size, and hardly existed anymore.

All the packs took it upon themselves to eliminate them one by one. Deisy looks at the human.

-I’m afraid they do exist, what attacked you wasn’t a simple grey mountain wolf. This was something completely different.

-It can’t be, how is that possible?

-Humans are not the only ones that exist in this world, there is a race of humans that can manage to become wolves. Huge wolves, just like the one that attacked you.

-Are they all like that?

-Not all of them are like that, he is the only one who behaves like that. That’s why I need you to remember what colour his fur was.

He seemed to try to remember what happened to him, but his face of confusion was impressive. And no wonder, with all the information he had given him, now he was probably worse off than before.

-I don’t know… I’m sorry, but I don’t remember,” she returned to her old position.

-It’s okay, at least you’ve started to remember a bit of what happened. That means you’ll soon remember what happened.

-I’m sorry.

-You need to rest.

She turns and leaves the cell without looking back.

-You’re one of them, aren’t you? -Deisy stops, but without turning around. You’re a werewolf? -she adds.

-You’d better get some sleep, it’s been a lot for tonight.

-I don’t care what you are,” those words went straight to her heart. Because I know you won’t hurt me,” he adds, to complete his excited state.

-You shouldn’t think that way,” he replies sharply. If I want to, I can tear you apart,” she adds coldly, looking at him over the edge of his shoulders.

-You would have done it already, you look strong, but inside you just need a little warmth. Your heart’s frozen, but I think a little…

-SHUT UP! -he shouts, silencing the human’s words.

She didn’t want… she didn’t want him to expose her like that. She hated it when someone tried to see her vulnerable side. She wasn’t about to let anyone do that.

-You don’t know me at all, I won’t allow you to talk about me as if you know me. Don’t do that again, or it will be very bad for you.

Deisy walked quickly out of the cell, she was furious with the man. How dare he talk to her that way as if he had known her all her life.

He watched Deisy walk away and smiled. She couldn’t fool him, no matter what he said she had a pure heart. She was a werewolf, and yet she saved a human’s life. Of course, her purpose was to find out why she had come to this place, but she didn’t hesitate to help him.

She was an amazing woman, and he was even a little curious to discover the true nature of her person. Knowing the wolf inside her, he wondered what she would be like.

He looked up at the ceiling, he was exhausted. That wound on his side was a nuisance, he could barely talk to that albino, but what she didn’t know was that he was having a hard time articulating a word.

Yes, it was healing, but very slowly. On the other hand, the damn taste of herbs on his palate was driving him crazy, those strange medicines were disgusting. But if they could heal him, he would take them.

He needed to get out of that dungeon and prove to that pretentious albino that he wasn’t a bad person.

Then he asked himself a question that set his brain to thinking…

< Why the hell do I care if she sees that I’m a good person?

He looks seriously at the ceiling of that cell; yes she had him locked up with very little attention and chained on top of that. At least she was forewarned.

-You could say she’s an interesting woman.
