The Lycan’s King Breeder -
Chapter 95
Felicity POV.
As I felt his lips on mine, I could feel my heart bursting with love and gratitude. We had just experienced something terrifying, something that had threatened to tear us apart forever. And yet, here we were, embracing each other with such intense love and passion. As we pulled away, tears streamed down my face. I was so overwhelmed with emotion that I could barely speak. But I didn't need to, as his eyes were filled with the same love and tenderness that I was feeling.
In that moment, I knew that our love would conquer anything that we faced. Our relationship had been tested, and we had come out on the other side even stronger than before.
Looking down at our baby, I felt such a sense of pride and joy. This little bundle of love was a true testament to our connection, the strongest bond that we had ever created.
As we walked away, hand in hand, I felt a sense of peace wash over me. Yes, we had faced danger and nearly lost everything that was dear to us, but we had also found a love that was unbreakable, a love that would carry us through anything that life might throw our way.
Suddenly, Kyle's voice broke our quiet moment. "What should we do now?" he asked.
Maximus replied, "My castle is only about 8 hours away on horseback. We should head there."
I turned back to see the rest of our companions. At the start of our journey, we were 22 strong, but now we were down to only 12. The loss was huge. During our battle against the bounty hunter, we had lost our nurse, Molly. She was the one who had saved my baby's life and that of Maximus. I was going to miss her so much.
Once we reached the forest, we knelt in front of Molly's corpse and cried. Ava came to hug me, and we both cried together. "Molly was like a sister to us, and we have lost her," I said between sobs.
Maximus put his arm around me. "We'll never forget her. We'll make sure she's remembered always."
I nodded, tears still streaming down my face. Beyond the sadness, I knew that we had to keep moving forward. We still had miles to go before we could finally rest, but I felt a renewed sense of strength knowing that we were together and that our love would carry us through anything.
"I know it's hard to leave them behind, but we have to keep moving forward," Maximus said, his voice firm and determined.
"But where are we going?" I asked, wiping away my tears.
"We don't know for sure, but we have to find a safe place to regroup and plan our next move to arrive in my castle. Who knows what dangers still await us," Maximus replied, his eyes scanning the surrounding area for any potential threats.
I nodded, understanding the urgency. I walked over to where our fallen comrades lay, picking some flowers along the way. As I placed the flowers on their bodies, I couldn't help but feel a sense of despair.
"We will never forget your bravery," I whispered to their lifeless forms.
The others followed suit, each paying their respects to the fallen. Once we were all ready, Maximus signaled for us to mount our horses and we set off once again.
We rode in silence, each lost in our own thoughts. I couldn't help but worry about what lay ahead for us. Would we make it through this journey unscathed? Would we ever find a place of safety?
I turned to Maximus, breaking the silence between us. "Do you think we'll make it?"
Maximus met my gaze, his expression unwavering. "We have to," he replied, "for the sake of those we've lost and for our own survival. We can't give up now."
We rode on, determined to continue our journey no matter what challenges lay ahead. Through the tears and heartache, we knew that our love and our unity would carry us through anything.
We rode through a deserted village, the sound of hooves the only interruption in the stillness of the air. Suddenly, I turned around and saw the men of Melezo chasing us. "Guys, they're behind us! They're on foot!" I shouted.
Maximus, who was leading the way on his horse, turned back to look at me. "Keep moving, I'll handle them."
We galloped as fast as our horses could go, trying to shake them off. The Melezo men started aiming their arrows at us.
"Watch out!" I yelled, as I saw an arrow whizzing past my head.
Maximus turned around again. "Stay low and hold on tight!"
I clutched my son tightly in my arms, trying to protect him from harm. The sound of arrows whistling past us filled the air as we galloped onwards. Suddenly, I heard a thud and a groan from behind me. "They got two of us!" one of my friends exclaimed.
I wanted to turn back and look, but Maximus stopped me. "We have to keep moving. We can't afford to look back now." Maximus yelled over his shoulder.
"But they're shooting arrows at us," I protested. "We need to help our fallen friends."
"We can't risk it," Maximus said firmly. "We have to focus on getting out of here alive."
I nodded, tears streaming down my face. "But how many more of us will fall before we reach safety?"
"We don't know," another friend, Marcus, chimed in. "But we have to believe that we'll make it through this together."
As we galloped further away from the village, I couldn't help but worry about our fallen friends. "What if they're still alive?" I asked.
Maximus glanced back briefly. "They'll have to fend for themselves for now. We can't risk going back for them."
I clenched my fists, feeling helpless. "I hate this. Everything was going so well before Melezo attacked us."
Another friend, Olivia, spoke up. "We can't dwell on what's already happened. We have to focus on what's ahead of us and keep moving forward."
I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down. "You're right. We can't let Melezo break our spirits."
Maximus nodded. "That's the spirit. We'll make it through this together. We just have to stay strong and have faith in each other."
And so we rode on in silence, the only sound the pounding of our horses' hooves on the ground. The chase continued, but we didn't let them catch up to us. We were determined to make it to safety.
Finally, we slowed down, panting and out of breath. We had made it out of their reach, but at a cost. Two of our friends were now gone, lost to the brutality of the Melezo men. We huddled together, grateful for our survival, but mourning our loss.
As we caught our breath, we spotted a small cave in the distance. It was a welcome sight after our prolonged chase. We quickly made our way towards it and entered with our horses. It was dark, but we could see a faint light flickering at the end of the cave.
As soon as we were inside, Maximus exploded in anger. "I knew it, there's a traitor among us! And I know who it is. " he yelled, and his voice echoed in the now silent cave. "He's responsible for the loss of our friends. He led the Melezo men straight to us."
