The Lycan’s King Breeder -
Chapter 99
Maximus
POV.
"How did you find us?" I asked Marcus once we were safe.
"It was Titus," Marcus replied, taking a deep breath. "What do you mean?" I exclaimed in shock.
"He was the traitor from the start," Marcus explained. "I overheard a conversation between Titus and a masked man in your palace. When I confronted him, he denied everything, but I kept a close eye on him and found proof in his room. I had him locked up in the dungeon, but he managed to escape with the help of some of your loyal men."
"How did you know to come rescue us?" I asked, amazed by Marcus's actions.
"I learned that you were being held captive at Melezo's," Marcus replied. "And I knew I had to come to your rescue."
I couldn't believe it. My own Head Enforcer, the person I trusted the most, had betrayed me. Everything that had happened made sense now. The unanswered letters, my disappearance, and all the chaos that had happened since Titus had taken charge. "How could he do this to us?" I asked Marcus, feeling a mixture of anger and betrayal.
"I don't know, Your Majesty. But what's important now is that you are safe. We have to be more careful from now on," Marcus replied.
"Thank you, Marcus. I don't know what I would have done without you," I said, feeling grateful for his loyalty and bravery.
"You don't have to thank me, Your Majesty. It's my duty to protect you," Marcus said with a smile.
I smiled back at him and sighed. It was a relief to be out of danger, but the betrayal still stung. I knew I had to take action and deal with Titus, but first, I had to gather my thoughts and come up with a plan.
"Let's head back to the palace and get some rest. We'll deal with Titus and the other traitors once we will be there," I said, looking at Marcus.
"Whatever you say, Your Majesty," Marcus replied, leading the way back to the palace.
Marcus started to walk then suddenly turned around he looked a bit hesitant.
"We can't go back now because Alpha Melezo is now king in your palace".
"What are you talking about? Alpha Melezo was just in the cave with us," I replied in disbelief.
Ignoring my comment, Marcus continued, "I'm telling you, we cannot return to your palace. Alpha Melezo has taken control."
"That's impossible! How could he have taken over my palace in such a short amount of time?" I asked, trying to make sense of the situation.
I was trying to wrap my head around the situation.
Felicity, who was walking alongside us, chimed in, "Marcus might be right. When I was captive with Alpha Zarek, I overheard them discussing Alpha Melezo and Titus, and your palace was mentioned."
My heart sank as I realized the truth. "Titus was always one step ahead of me, and he played me for a fool," I said, feeling betrayed.
Marcus nodded in agreement, "Yes, and it looks like Alpha Melezo was the one really in control."
I rubbed my temples in frustration. "This is ridiculous. Alright, we won't return to the palace. We'll find out what's going on and come up with a plan."
Marcus gave me a nod. "Agreed. We'll need a new strategy."
With our sleeping baby in her arms, Felicity added, "We need to figure out a plan. We can't let Alpha Melezo take your palace without a fight."
I took a deep breath and said, "You're right. We need to gather our allies and form a plan of attack. We won't let them win without a fight."
I then realized instantly that Titus had manipulated me from the start, he had known all along where Felicity was and that she was the famous woman, he made me fight with others Alpha to kill each other, and he was controlled by Alpha Melezo. I turned to Marcus and furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. "What had happened to the different lands of the alphas that I had killed?" I asked, hoping he could shed some light on the situation.
"Well, apparently Alpha Melezo had reunited them to form a single territory," Marcus replied, glancing at me with a knowing look.
"What? That sly bastard! How did he manage to do that?" I exclaimed, feeling a wave of anger and frustration wash over me.
"He's a genius, that's how," Marcus said with a slight nod, clearly impressed with Melezo's cunning tactics.
Just then, Kyle and Ava approached us, looking slightly puzzled. "What's happening?" Kyle asked, his eyes darting between our faces.
I took a deep breath and explained the situation to them, watching as their expressions turned from confusion to shock.
"Melezo really pulled a fast one on you," Ava said, shaking her head in disbelief.
"I can't believe this. My kingdom is now in chaos," I muttered, feeling both angry and helpless.
"We need to go back to the palace and restore order and peace," I declared firmly, determination shining in my eyes.
"Agreed," Marcus chimed in, his voice echoing my sentiments.
Without another word, we all got on our horses and set off on the road back to my palace. As we rode, my mind was racing with thoughts of how to fix the mess that Melezo had created.
We all got on our horses and set off on the road back to my palace. As we rode on the road, a man abruptly appeared in front of us dressed in a carp. My men immediately raised their weapons ready to shoot him down "What's this?" Felicity asked, puzzled.
"I have no idea," I replied, eyeing the man warily.
"Who goes there?!" one of my men shouted.
The man raised his hands defensively and protested, "I mean no harm! I only want to speak to the Lycan King!"
I stepped forward from my horse and addressed him, "I am the Lycan King. What do you want from me?"
The man explained, "Your highness, I have very useful information to share with you. It's about a matter of great importance."
I considered the man's plead and ordered my men to lower their weapons. As we dismounted our horses, I approached the man and asked for more information. "What kind of information do you have?" "It's better if I show you," the man replied as he removed his cape.
What I saw shocked me.
