It was a cloudless night, and the stars in the sky shone clearly, there was a different aura about Ahyan, it was calm, matching mine, as he escorted me to my room, there was a calming quietness between us, he held my hand but I retrieved it, I didn’t want to give in to him so easily and especially with the situation at school, however, he is trying.

I sighed loudly and he looks at me

” Are you alright?”

” Did you do drugs today?” He kept silent, his lips parting to say something but no sound came out, so those servants were right when they said he was high.

” I can’t do this, honestly, for me, drugs are a red flag,” I tell him,

” I was upset by your rejection earlier, I know it was childish,” He admitted,

” Ahyan, you and I belong to different worlds, already they think I’m throwing myself at you and being hated for that while you’re being praised for f*****g a virgin, you are the life of a party and all the high good stuff. I see now we are not a good fit,”

” Amara, I’ll deal with them, don’t do this please, I want you. I know it takes time to earn forgiveness but I will work for it, I swear, I’ll be the best man for myself and you,” He seems sincere. ” Just give me a chance, I’ll prove to you that your moon goddess didn’t make a mistake, I want to love you and be with you until you’re grey and old,”

I squitted my eyes and gaped, ” Me? I’ll watch you be old and grey as in, you’re older than me,”

” Okay fine, until we are grey and old, but I believe you’ll age like fine wine,” He smiled boyishly at me. I frowned scared that I’ll grow old but also smiled a little at what he said

” You are scared of growing old, aren’t you?” He gave me a quizzical look.

” Everyone has a fear, and it is mine, don’t go telling anyone that,” I mumbled.

” Your secret is safe with me,” He held out a pinky finger and I did the same, we interlocked them and he kissed mine before starting to walk again.

” I like it,” He inhaled

” What?”

” Us, walking like this and just talk, Amara, recently, I’ve come to realize that you make me happy, you’re my happy place,” Something about his words make me feel different, warm and it felt good, my heart skip and I’m sure he heard it.

” You’re blushing, look at those rosy cheeks, damn, girl,” He sounded impressed and cheerful, he stopped walking once we reached my door.

He opened it for me and bowed, ” Good night, my blushing Princess,”

” Sleep well, my Prince,” I tried to do a curtsey. He closed the door and I let out a sigh, leaning against it, I could hear him just behind the door so I stayed a while longer.

” Ahyan?” I whispered.

” Hey,” He said quietly. ” Go to bed now,”

” Okay.”

Sophie was fast asleep on my bed, holding the pillow close to her. I fully raised the cover to her neck and got in bed with her. As soon as I did, she snuggled closer to me. She is a cuddler.

” You smell like Ahyan,” she mumbled. I only smiled and let my mind wander to what we discussed tonight in the queen’s lavender garden.

” He asked me out on a date,” I whispered, Sophie was silent and I wondered if she fell back asleep but she asked.

” And what did you say?”

” Well, nothing,”

” Do you want to go out with him?” She asked. It was my turn to be silent, I do want to form a relationship with him but I’m hesitant, what if it doesn’t work out? And besides, he’s going to college soon.

” I’m scared,” I confessed. Sophie just holds me tight against her

” Do what your heart wants and be happy, Amara,”

I sighed and closed my eyes to get some sleep, we had to wake up early for school tomorrow because we have to do some maintenance as punishment for fighting. I smile thinking about that, punching Sheila did feel good. I hope those girls stop messing with me because I will be fighting back.

AHYAN POV

Once I made sure Amara was in bed, I left the castle, knowing exactly who I wanted to see. Once in the lobby of his hotel, I called him, he came out with a frown on his face, behind him, his two men.

” Prince Ahyan, I was working before you so rudely ordered me out but what do I expect from a spoiled little brat like you,” Aiden said, I looked at the two concierges and they immediately left.

” We let you stay in our city peacefully despite our history, my family and I supported you when you needed it. I fought for you when demons attacked your city and you repay all that by wanting to take my mate?”

Aiden sucked in a breath

” Amara is a different issue, I want her for a decade, and from what I’ve heard, you haven’t been a good mate,” He retorted, his face calm as ever and I wanted to punch him, I was using all my restraint but Drakon wanted to tear him apart for ever daring to set his eyes on his mate.

” I messed up, I f.cked up but it’s all in the past, we are trying to make it work,”

” You’re a child Ahyan, you don’t know what you want, you won’t love her long, she amuses you for the time but what happened when the bond is not enough for you?” His crimson gaze showed curiosity, I stepped closer to him and his men came forward.

” I don’t need any bond to be with her, with or without it, I’d love her, protect her, always. Don’t underestimate what I feel for her, Aiden, I’d kill you and your men where you stand for that girl, my girl,” I spoke the truth, I’d do anything for Amara.

” Okay, my Prince, I hear you but she will have to reject me herself, or are you worried she might come with me?” He teased, a small forming on his thin lips.

” Whatever, ask her out, acknowledge your feelings to her but when she says no, you stay away from her,”

” And when she accepts me, as a man can you give me your word to do the same, your highness?” He was serious, he extended his hand and I looked at it, was I ready to walk away from Amara if she picked him? Hell, no, but my father told me a man is defined by his word. I nodded my agreement and shook his cold hand.

” My word is my bond,”

‘ You fool. You shouldn’t have done that!’ Shouted Drakon in my head as I left the hotel.

‘ Don’t you have any faith in our mate?’

‘ I do but what if she goes with him,’ His voice was calm.

‘ let’s believe that her love for us is stronger, and won’t leave us,’ I said to him, I don’t think I’d recover if she agreed to Aiden’s proposal but I’d not hold her against her will.

I went to the park we used to go to as children, I jumped over the gate and sat on a bench, star gazing and thinking of my beautiful mate. Please don’t leave me, I whispered. My heart tightened at that possibility.

AMARA POV

The next morning, we wake up at 06 am sharp, Sophie is groaning and complaining because she is not used to waking up this early.

” I’m still sleepy,” She whines as she goes to the bathroom while I go to the closet, I pick out warm legging, a tank top, and black boots.

I go to the bathroom and do my morning routine.

After bathing, I apply my lotion and do my make up then wear my clothes, luckily Sophie is almost done too and we still have some time.

” Let me do your hair,” I sit in front of the mirror as she brushes my hair and then split it into two to make french braids.

” You have nice hair, unlike mine,” She giggles.

” I love your hair,”

” Everyone does but they don’t know what I go through to maintain it,” Sophie has beautiful naturally curly hair that I love to touch and flawless brown skin.

” Hecho Vamos,” Translation from Spanish ( Done, let’s go)

” vamos,” I sigh, holding the door open for her. We go downstairs, the castle is already busy as the servants clean and gets things done around.

” Good morning, your breakfast is ready,” Sandra says with a smile.

” No, thank you,” I answer, we are having breakfast later with Happy at the school cafeteria.

She nods and escorts us outside to Sophie’s car, the driver nods to acknowledge us.

Before we get into the car, Ahyan and Theo are walking toward us, they look like they are from training as they are wearing shorts and their chest are bare, I swallow thickly. My eyes are stuck on Ahyan’s body, his muscles are toned just the right way and his hair is messy like he’s been playing with it. I bite my lips and recall all the encounters with him, I feel moist between my legs and my body is warm when I have such thoughts.

Two fingers are snapping in front of me, I flush and look away, getting inside the car but my mate holds my wrist, twirls me towards him and I almost bump into his hard torso, my hands fly to his hot arms for some sort of support.

Ahyan’s obsidian eyes are piercing me and he bends his neck, kissing my cheek softly.

” Good morning, Princess?” He asks with a tiny smile. My skin is covered in goosebumps and I shudder. I stare at him for a long time before producing any words.

” Prince Ahyan, Prince Theo, good morning to you,”

I swallow and pull away from Ahyan but we are still close.

I stare at Sophie and she has a smirk on her lips. My eyes look up to the two princes.

Theo only nods curtly to us, his eyes are red, and his lips are pressed into a thin line.

” You’re going early to school, wassup,” Ahyan asks.

” We are being punished you .. you,” Sophie’s words get lost as Ahyan’s glare land on her.

” I blame you, Ahyan, those girls won’t stop with the trash talk if you won’t say something to them, in their pathetic brain it’s Amara after you, not the other way round,”

Right the students think I’m throwing myself at him. Ahyan squeezes my hand and caresses my hair with his hand.

” I’ll deal with them,” he says sternly, he opens the car door for me and I look at him once more before getting into the car.

” The head of the mllévanos a la escuela,” Sophie tells the driver. ( Take us to school)

In less than ten minutes we reach the school and I guide Sophie to the disciplinary teacher’s office. We enter the office and take our seats opposite Mr. Noah.

” Let’s wait for Miss Yang -” Before he finishes talking, the door opens and Sheila and Debra walk in.

Debra doesn’t have her usual smugness and Sheila doesn’t even meet eyes with me

As soon as they take their seats, Mr. Noah starts to lecture us about what happened and it’s honestly getting boring as we are yawning after a few minutes now, exasperated he gets up harshly and we follow him out.

” You will be picking trash for the whole week while you two girls will help clean the hallways,” he says pointing to Debra and Sheila who shriek at once.

” I’m not doing that sir! Do you know who my family is? They won’t stand for this,”

” Miss Yang, I’ve already talked to your mother about this and she said it’s up to me to give you a punishment,” Mr. Noah says calmly explained. Debra is fuming and throwing angry daggers at me with her eyes but I glare back at the b***h.

” It’s these bitches’ fault!” Sheila yells.

” Language young lady-” the two start to argue with the teacher while I fold my arms on my chest, watching them act like the spoiled brats they are.

” Two weeks cleaning the halls and kitchen duty for talking back!” Mr. Noah angrily shouts at them. I chuckle at their expressions and Debra walks toward me …

” You little w***e what are you laughing at!” It’s Debra who shouts and Sophie almost jumps at her but I hold her arm.

” Sophie, don’t waste your energy,” I turn to the two girls.

” Happy cooking, girls,” I smile and walk away from them. I hear curses behind me as we go to the teacher In charge of our punishment.

As soon as we entered the office, she grimaced on her face as usual.

” Pick the bags behind that cabin,” she Instructs and we do as told. Each getting a big plastic.

” Pick any litter you see then drag the big trash bins pilled up on the western gate so that they are taken to landfills,”

” Why are they big? There is hardly any litter around the school!” Sophie Snickers.

” Well, I’m sure you’ll be able to find some litter somewhere, Sophie,” she says without taking her eyes off her phone.

” Also, the trash man didn’t come yesterday or today, therefore, making it your Job,”

Groaning, we take the huge black bag and leave the office

” And girls, do a good job,” She smiles a one-sided smile before shooing us out of her office with her hand.

Half the morning we spend picking litter outside and inside school premises then go back for the trash bins.

” I’ll get the last one,” I tell Sophie who looks like she’s been working for a week straight. She’s lying on the soft grass, hands above her head, and her eyes are closed as she sun bask.

” Okay, gosh, I’m exhausted, Mara, how are you able to stand and what time is it?” She asks, not opening her eyes.

” It’s almost ten and Sophie, those freshers did more work,”

Sophie batted her eyelashes at some first years and they did most of our work but unfortunately, Mrs. Smith came and sent the boys to class and scolded as for taking advantage.

As I push the huge bag to the back gate, my wolf edges me to look left and I do, Ahyan is in the class, his concentration on his laptop, oh yes, the seniors are writing their final exams, I smile as I watch him. He looks so focused and too hot, I fan myself with my hand as I walk him with a smile, damn, I was blessed with a handsome man. As If feeling my gaze on him, he looks my way, a small smile forms on his lips and I wave at him shyly.

” Miss Adamson, go back to work!” Mrs. Smith’s voice startles me and in my panic, I trip over the trash and fall on my a*s. I stay on the floor and close my eyes in embarrassment. Please don’t see that. I really hope he didn’t see.

” Are you alright?” I squint my eyes open and come face to face with King Aiden. He gives me his hand and I take it, getting up. I smile awkwardly at him. What is he doing here? I feel my neck burn and I can only imagine Ahyan’s glare.

” Are you alright?” Aiden asks again. I nod

” Yes, but Aiden, what are you doing in my school?” I ask, grabbing his arm and taking him somewhere else.

” I came to say goodbye,” He says, I stop walking and look at him

” Goodbye? Where are you going?” I ask, he smiles.

” Back home, at the clan,” I nod.

” Amara, do you still not want to come with me?” He asks, I raise my eyebrows, he once asked if I can go with him with I was twelve.

” Why do you always insist on taking me with you?”

” Because I love you and I want to make you mine,” He says without flinching and my heart pounds in my chest. I calm myself and walk further into the garden. I stare at the vampire king, he looks calm and a small smile is playing as he looks at me like something so dear and precious to him.

” I have a mate and I love him, Aiden, ” I look him in his gorgeous crimson eyes. He doesn’t look hurt or upset, instead, his face shows that of confusion. Did he think I’ll just go with him. He clears his throat and walks closer to me. He takes my hand in his and I almost flinch at how cold his touch is.

” Amara, Is there anything I can do to change your mind?”

“No, I love Prince Ahyan,” I declare, and he nods.

” I’ll always be here for you, no matter what,” He says and k****s my forehead, his lips linger there and when he pulls away, he smiles.

” You know, our futures are intertwined somehow, so I know I’ll see you again,”

” Why do you mean?” I ask, he only smiles and turns to walk away. I turn my back to watch the forest and think about what we talked about, what did he mean by that?

I soon feel warm hands around my waist and I smile, leaning into Ahyan’s front. I can feel his hot breath on my neck and I close my eyes to relax. Did he see Aiden? I thought he’d be upset but he seems relaxed as well. Enjoying our time together.

” How was your exam?” I finally ask.

” Good, I saw Aiden,”

I sigh, I want to turn to him but he hugs me tighter.

” Don’t move, I’m comfortable,” He whispers. Interlocking our fingers.

” He loves me- ” I tell him all that the vampire King and I discussed and with each sentence he holds me tighter.

” But I told him that I love you,” His body goes rigid and I regret telling him that part, it’s too soon.

” Ahyan, you don’t have to say it back, love takes time to develop and I want that,” I tell him truthfully. I don’t expect him to love me immediately, and to change drastically or feel pressured, healthy relationships take time and I’ll wait, he has already expressed how much he wants me, and now it’s me to be patient.

” How is it so easy for you?”

I giggle at his question, why is it easy for me to love him? Well, firstly, he makes me feel what no one has ever made me feel and it doesn’t hurt that he looks like a perfect sculptured god but I won’t say it to his face.

” it’s just that for me, I’ve loved you since I was in middle school, I thought it was some silly crush but it wasn’t. Ahyan you make my heart beat faster than anything and when I’m around you, it’s when I feel happiest and peaceful,”

I can feel his smile on my neck and he k****s it gently.

” I’m afraid,” He says quietly.

” Of what?”

” I’m selfish and end up hurting people I care about even my family. Amara, I don’t want to hurt you ever that’s why I wanted to walk away but again I want you so badly,” He pauses to suck in a breath ” I want to love you till the end of time, to love and be loved,”

” Then open your heart to me and I’ll help you but Ahyan,” I turn to face him, and I’m taken back by how soft his eyes are, I inhale and place my forehead on his left chest, hearing the beating of his heart. ” I won’t stay for you to hurt me again and when I leave, I won’t come back to you,”

” I refuse to let you go, Amara Adamson, hence I refuse to hurt you again,” He vows, I get on my tiptoes and he bends a little to k**s me again, we pull away and get lost in each other’s eyes a while longer before claiming my lips once more.
