Felix took a few steps forward and sat in a chair, finally speaking, "You know I'm the apprentice of the miracle doctor, right?"

Although Sonny didn't respond, his expression left no doubt that he was indeed part of the Elders' Council.

"It's a pity, isn't it? You're one of the Thirteen Aces, yet you've been made a fool. Did the Elders' Council ever tell you that the miracle doctor has ten apprentices, and I'm only one of them?" What?

Sonny's eyes widened in shock as he heard that. "No wonder your friend Jack had such a skilled guard!"

With a self-deprecating chuckle, Sonny shook his head. "What can I do? Even if you're the best in the world, can you really say you fear nothing? Either way, it's better to fall at the hands of the miracle doctor's apprentice. At least I wouldn't be killed by a woman like the God of Death was."

Felix's expression turned strange.

"Oh, the God of Death. For some reason, I spared him last time and only left him badly injured. Well, I must say he was just as cowardly as you are."

Sonny was not shocked at all. Knowing that Felix had injured the God of Death helped it all make sense. Even someone as cautious as the God of Death had slipped up in front of Felix.

"Judging by your attitude, you're not planning to deny the alleged kidnapping?"

Sonny sighed, his gaze turning calm. "Everyone has things they care about-even I do. You're right. Even if you hand me over to Xena, she won't get a single word out of me. Otherwise, the whole kidnapping would have been pointless. "These words are the last you'll hear from me in this lifetime."

After that, no matter what Felix asked, Sonny remained silent. A person of Sonny's caliber would be nearly impossible to coerce into revealing the truth, so Felix gave up trying.

Alistair gestured ahead and tapped on the rolled-down shutter door in front of the storefront. "You'll understand once you go inside, my lord."

Only Alistair could convince her to come here. If it had been anyone else, she wouldn't have bothered. Her mood had been turbulent lately, mostly due to Feliz. Even though she had told herself it was over, it wasn't so easy to erase him from her thoughts.

Adding to her frustration was the fact that her cousin Aimee had returned from abroad and planned to stay with her for a while. She was a sweet woman and much loved by her grandfather. However, Aimee insisted on setting Xena up with a boyfriend, which only made things more awkward.

Just then, the shutter door opened, and Xena's expression shifted instantly. Feliz was standing right in front of her.

"Alistair! If you're so keen on bullying me, I'll have you reassigned from the Wolfie troops!"

Fuming, Xena turned to leave. She knew Alistair was trying to help her untangle the kidnapping case, believing Felix wasn't the kind to run from danger. However, arranging a meeting like this was too much.

Just as Alistair was about to explain, Felix stopped him. Looking at Xena's retreating figure, he said, "Sonny Balcom is inside."
