The Rise of a Master: It Starts With Rejection -
Billionaire With Husband 675
Chapter 675
Silas's voice carried a mix of desperation and pleading, with an undercurrent of fear that Felix found unsettling. He was confused by the warning about Zara and asked, Grayson, what do you mean? I don't understand." "Mr.
"Don't ask questions-just remember your promise. Ernest was there when you swore never to meet with Zara again. That debt has been paid. Can you give me your word?" Silas pressed urgently.
Felix wondered if Zara had escaped as it seemed the only explanation. "I'll keep my promise. Even if she finds me here, I'll avoid her completely."
After hearing that, Silas seemed to relax a little. "Good. I hope you'll remember what you said."
Felix hung up the call, shaking his head. The dynamic between Silas and Zara was so strange, as though there was some massive secret neither of them could share.
Melissa had already opened up the clinic. She was wearing a modest dress that completely concealed her figure. She asked, "Is this outfit acceptable enough?" Felix gave her a slight nod. "Yeah, it's perfect."
Still, the clinic remained empty all morning. They ordered takeout for lunch, and Melissa could not hold back her curiosity.
"I have to say, you've got some next-level patience," she remarked, raising an eyebrow." If I didn't know you were different, I'd think you just didn't care about anything.
Felix only shrugged. "The fewer patients we have, the better, don't you think?"
"What? No way!" Melissa exclaimed, throwing her hands up. "There are billions of people in the world and more illnesses than anyone can count. You just have a trust problem-no one believes in this tiny clinic of yours.
Felix did not engage further and leaned back for a short nap instead. His thoughts drifted to the Elders' Council. After the blow they took last time, he figured they would not act again anytime soon, giving him some breathing room. Maybe now he could finally get the chance to connect with Willow and work toward reconciling with Xena.
Not long after, a woman walked into the clinic. Melissa's demeanor lit up, thrilled to see someone finally come in. She eagerly asked, "Hello, how can we help you today?"
The woman smiled apologetically. "Oh, I'm not here for medical help. I just need to use

your restroom11."
Melissa's expression fell instantly, and she replied flatly, "Sorry, but our restroom isn't open to the public."
Felix did not intervene. As long as Melissa was not outright rude, he saw no need to get involved.
"Seriously," Melissa muttered once the woman left, "there's a public restroom just down the street. Why come here?"
By 2:00 pm, Felix was back at his station, ready to start the afternoon shift. Out of the blue, Melissa brought up a topic that caught his attention.
"Hey, did you hear about the Jacobs family? You know, the top dogs of the Eight Great Martial Families?"
Felix raised an eyebrow. "Oh? What happened? Must be something big if even you've heard about it."
Melissa leaned closer, lowering her voice conspiratorially. "Apparently, Mason Jacobs, their golden boy, had an accident. There were even rumors he died, but people have spotted him in different cities since then, and the family denied everything. They're saying it's all just baseless gossip."
Felix leaned back thoughtfully. He did not know the exact details of the Scarlet Thread spell that had been used, and he was unsure if its effects were instant or if there was a delay. Either way, the contingency plan he had arranged with Seven was far from unnecessary. Maintaining their reputation was crucial for a powerful family like the Jacobs. If they did not have concrete evidence of who was behind the incident, they would keep the matter under wraps as long as possible.
They would only make it public after avenging Mason's death-that was the only way to protect their reputation. For now, their efforts to downplay the rumors were nothing more than a stalling tactic, giving Felix more time to maneuver around.
