The Rise of a Master: It Starts With Rejection -
Billionaire With Husband 676
Chapter 676
From what Melissa had shared, it seemed that the moment Mason died, someone must have sensed it right away.
"I feel like you're talking but not really saying anything," Felix remarked, raising an eyebrow.
Melissa grew a little flustered. "No, it's not that! It's just... I have this weird feeling. If Mason really did have an accident, it would explain why those rumors popped up out of nowhere.
"Ugh, if something really happened to him, the Jacobs family would probably be so furious. Mason's the most talented person they've had in generations."
Felix did not continue the discussion, as a middle-aged man walked into the clinic at that
moment.
"Hello, how can we help you today?" Melissa asked politely.
Having an attractive receptionist really did make customers more agreeable.
"I've got some stomach pain," the man replied, rubbing his abdomen.
"Please, take a seat," Melissa said, motioning toward the chair.
Felix walked over and pretended to take the man's pulse. After a moment, he said, "It's just a simple case of food poisoning. I'll give you a couple of acupuncture treatments, and you can take some medication. By tomorrow, you should be good as new.
At first, the man looked skeptical, but as soon as Felix placed the needles, the intense churning in his stomach began to ease up. By the time it was done, he was a completely different person-grateful, polite, and cheerful
Since the total bill, including the medication, amounted to just over 60 bucks, the man left smiling with his prescription in hand.
"It's always tough to get things rolling in the beginning," Melissa said optimistically. "But once word gets out, more people will surely show up."
Unfortunately, her optimism did not pay off. By the time they closed for the day, not a single additional patient had walked through the door. In the end, Melissa left in a rather gloomy mood.
Felix had planned to shop for a car that day, but the thought completely slipped his mind. Instead, he headed straight home. No sooner had he stepped inside when the doorbell rang Clement and Willow stood at the gate with Darcy, who looked far healthier than that
morning.

"Darcy, get on your knees!" Clement commanded, his tone stern.
Without hesitation, Darcy kneeled in front of Felix and said, "Thank you, Mr. Zeller, for saving my life."
Felix quickly helped the boy back to his feet. "Hey, what's this about? If someone's in trouble, of course, I'll help. There's no need for such grand gestures."
However, Clement was not finished. He and Willow both bowed deeply to Felix.
"This is the least we can do as a family," Clement replied. "I wasn't there this morning, but I can imagine how bad things must've been. If it weren't for your quick actions, Darcy..."
He trailed off, unable to say the rest. After a while, he continued, "To us, you're a lifesaver. If there's ever anything we can do for you, just ask. And please, accept this token of our gratitude." Clement handed over a thick envelope and a few expensive-looking gifts.
"Alright," Felix said, knowing they would not feel at ease unless he accepted. "I'll take these, but we're neighbors-there's no need to be so formal in the future."
That seemed to put the couple at ease. Afterward, they invited Felix over for dinner, where the atmosphere was warm and filled with laughter.
"Honestly," Clement said between bites, "we're lucky to have a neighbor who's not only friendly but also an amazing practitioner of traditional medicine."
The conversation carried on until Felix excused himself to use the restroom. As he walked
away,
he overheard Clement speaking in a low voice.
"Honey, did you read the letter we got?"
"Yeah, I read it," Willow replied with a sigh. "I was worried about this back then, and now it's happened-she really did fall for a scumbag."
"Seriously?" Clement growled. "I can't stand men who don't take responsibility. If I ever meet that guy, I'll knock him out. And honey, your pen pal has some terrible luck."
Felix froze, shaking his head with a bitter smile That scumbag they were talking about was probably him.
Xena and Willow were pen pals, and apparently, they did not hold back when sharing details.
Just as he was mulling over this revelation, his expression shifted abruptly. He murmured, "Wait... what's this?"
