CHAPTER 046

I got up quickly which surprised Noah as I dashed for the door in my shirt and shorts. He started coming after me as I was running down the stairs trying to sing out to me but I wasn't listening. "Cole." I mindlink as I throw open the two large wooden doors at the front of the castle.

"Yes, princess." He answered.

"Where is he? Do you see him?"

"I've got eyes on him now. He's just standing there. I don't know what his plan is. He's just watching us.

"Alright. Make sure he doesn't see all the warriors. Keep warriors at their posts on all sides of

the border. He could be using himself as a distraction or he could be trying to see what sort of an army we have." I said.

"I will, ma'am. Don't worry. The second he makes a move, we'll be right on him." Cole assured

I turned back around to head inside but instead of going upstairs I went towards the door that led to the dungeon.

When I got downstairs, Camila and Rory were still tied up on the wall with silver chains that were keeping their wolves at bay for the moment. Not to mention, they couldn't fight back in that state. That was the whole point of having the silver chains. They definitely weren't for comfort.

I saw that they were both sitting on the floor leaning against the wall sleeping at this point so

I grabbed a bucket that was full of liquid.

I threw half the liquid wolfsbane on Camila and the other half on Rory. Causing them to wake

up screaming with their skin actually steaming from the poison.

It took them a bit to stop screaming, but when they did they looked like they wanted to kill me.

"What the f**k is your problem?" Rory yelled at me.

"Why is Xavier here?"

"What the hell are you talking about?" Camila asked.

"Xavier is right outside this castle. Outside the border, watching us. Don't tell me that he's not here for you. He doesn't like that you were caught trying to kill my mother and now you're 1/4

slaves." I said.

"I swear, we don't know why he's here." Rory said.

"Oh. So, he hasn't been trying to recruit or blackmail other packs to come here and attack the royal family?" I asked.

"I don't know what the f**k you are talking about." Camila yelled at me.

"Dark Wood Pack, Moon Stone Pack, Ashen Pack? They don't ring a bell to you?" I yelled.

"How do you know those packs?" Rory asked, suddenly a lot quieter.

"Because we had a tip that those are the packs that he is blackmailing into helping him. Don't tell me that you don't know all about it because you are the one that said you were going to give the signal for when it was safe for him to attack." I said, causing them both to stare at me in silence. "I'm right, aren't I? You see, Xavier doesn't have the loyalty of his whole pack. Where the hell do you think I got this information from? It was one of his own." I said.

"That's not true. Everyone is loyal to Xavier."

"Okay. If everyone is loyal to Xavier, is everyone loyal to you?" I asked.

They both looked at each other for a long moment like they were trying to figure out who could

have tipped me off.

Noah was standing back watching the whole interaction. When I threw the wolfsbane on them I was positive I saw him crack a smile. He really liked what he saw but he wasn't going to admit it. He needed to be my head of security right now which meant he needed to be serious against a serious threat that was right outside.

But as my mate, he seemed proud.

He had to learn to stop doing that.

"Can you please help us? My skin won't stop burning." Rory said.

"Yeah. That's what wolfsbane does. Why the hell should I give you any kind of help when you're trying to kill me? Or take over my kingdom while my parents aren't here?" I asked.

"Because we're not doing anything." Camily insisted.

"I'm not an i***t. And the people that I have around me, I trust with my life." I said.

Bullshit.

"Actually, it's not bullshit. No matter how much you want it to be." I said. And Camila looked at me strangely. Along with Noah and Rory.

CHAPTER 046

"I didn't say that out loud." Camila said.

"I know. I guess I'm more like my mother than you realized. And those training lessons with. Maisie have been amazing. Maybe you should think about that before you try to lie to me again. I'll give you one last chance to tell the truth. If you don't, I'm going to hurt Rory. And you will have to watch, knowing that it's your fault." I said.

Camila looked over at Rory before looking back at me with a really defiant look on her face. She had no intention of saying anything to me.

So I walked over to Rory pretty slowly as my claws extended from my nails.

I made sure that I kept my eyes on Camila the whole time, but she remained tight lipped.

I honestly believe that she didn't think I was going to do anything to Rory. What an i***t.

As soon as I got to Rory, Camila looked the other way so I looked at Noah.

He walked over to Camila and physically forced her to look towards myself and Rory.

I raised both of my hands with extended claws out and I dug one fingernail into Rory's chest

making her scream. But when that did nothing, I dug in a second claw and then a third claw.

Camila was really sticking to her guns. She wasn't going to rat out her old Alpha. She was a lot more loyal to that man than she was to her own children.

I wish I could say that it was admirable, but honestly, it was kind of pathetic.

How the hell could she choose that asshole over her own child?

I stayed down there for a long time with Camila and Rory.

Rory took quite a beating from me while Camila just stood there and watched.

Noah did have to make her watch, but she still wouldn't give up Xavier. Or any of his plans.

When I was fed up with trying to get any information out of them, I went back upstairs while Noah was following me and the guards kept watch of the prisoners.

I also told the guards to keep their ears peeled. Not that they needed to.

There were cameras in the dungeon, but no one knew about them but myself and my parents.

As soon as I got back upstairs I checked in with Cole who told me that Xavier was just standing outside the border. He wasn't doing anything. He wasn't trying to talk to the warriors. He wasn't pacing around. He was just standing there watching.

"He's waiting for you." Noah said.

"He wants me to go out there." I said.

"Yeah. Are you going to?"

"No. I'm not giving that bastard anything he wants." I said.

"What are we going to do about him?"

"The warriors can keep an eye on him until he leaves. That's all we can do as long as he

doesn't step foot over the border. We can't attack him just for standing there. That will give him reason to declare war against us." I explained.

"So you'll get blamed for the war instead of him. That's actually pretty smart. Or pretty stupid."

"He probably thinks it's smart because he would know that I'm the one that's in charge and he probably assumes that I don't know what the hell I am doing." I said. "Yeah. That sounds more like it." He said.

We didn't get any sleep that night just in case Xavier did try to make a move on the pack. But

we stayed in the sitting room filled with anxiety all night.

I was actually surprised that Lucas didn't show up at all. I'm sure he would have known what was going on. He seems to be keeping a close eye on me these days. But I was glad that he didn't. That's just one more issue that I didn't want to deal with right

now.

I knew that Noah had Lucas on his mind but he didn't want to mention him to me right now. I guess he would when he thought the time was right.
