Scarlett POV

I was relieved everything was working as planned. The blame was on the Queen mother. I was lucky I changed my attitude just in time or else I would have been the prime suspect.

At first, I thought she was an easy push. That was why I wanted to threaten her, but I discovered that she was just acting pitiful. That girl actually had lots of willpower.

I wanted to go and meet Niyol, but Henry gave me a signal to meet him up. I turned away from his lonely back and left the palace.

I went straight to Province B, the warehouse we kept in Koko. That was the only safe place now that I could go to whenever I wished to see Henry without looking suspicious.

At this rate now, we didn’t need to be seen together for the time being.

Henry came in a little later. We went to an empty room in the warehouse. Immediately we were alone, Henry pounced on me. He drew me close and raised my bvtt up, squeezing it tightly. I let out a soft m**n.

“Stop it, Henry. We need to finish this task before anything.”

“Tell me you don’t miss me too,” he said, drawing me closer and squeezing my b00bs.

“I do, but we need to take care of that girl before we do anything.” I told him, removing his hands.

“You are such a killjoy!” He lamented.

“You said we have to discuss something urgent, what is it?” I asked.

“It’s about the girl that delivered the letter. Are you sure she has left the pack?” He asked.

“I gave her the money and told her to leave. She must have left already.” I said.

“She had better leave, because Niyol is on to her as we speak. They found out she was the only person that served Koko before she was kidnapped. They believe she told Koko that place.” He said.

“Which place? Didn’t you write it down and ask her to dispose it?” I asked.

“Yes. But Niyol is suspecting that someone must have told Koko that place. All I am saying is that, the servant should never be caught! We have to find her first and kill her.” Henry said.

“Where do we start finding someone who already left?” I asked.

“I will arrange some of the boys to look for her as soon as I can,” he said, drawing me closer.” Can we do a quick one?”

“Get off, Henry! I need to go and see that cursed girl.” I said, pushing him off.

I heard him grumbling as we moved towards the place she was kept. When we got there, I saw her tied to a chair with b***d all over her face.

“Wake her up!” I ordered. One of the men brought a bucket of water and splash it on her. She woke up with a scream.

“Are you still trying to prove stubborn? Why don’t you give up already and you will stay alive? These men are not friendly. They might make a slight mistake, any day.” I told her.

“I… I will… never… leave him…” she said boldly.

I walked close to her and landed a punch on her face. I wonder why she was so stubborn.

“Just leave and I will give you enough money to start a new life. Just leave Niyole alone.” I tried to change my tactics.

It wasn’t like I could not kill her, but it would be much of a hassle. It was better she gave up and make Niyol believe that she left in her accord.

She kept her mouth shut as she stared at me. I became angry at the way she was being stubborn and even presumptuous.

Henry walked up to me and embraced me, “Just don’t get yourself worked up unnecessarily. Let them deal with her before you hurt your hands.”

“This b!tch has a way of getting me angry. I hate her so much.”

“I know, sweetheart. Come, we need to go home and rest. Didn’t you say you were going over to the palace tomorrow morning? Come, let’s go and relax. They would take care of her.” Henry said, dragging me away.

“No, I want to watch how she gets tortured!” I refused, staying put.

The men started beating her up again and her screams filled the warehouse. I felt relieved seeing her in pain.

I hoped she took the offer I was giving her, or else I might just change my mind and kill her instead.

“Let’s go, baby.” Henry said, dragging me out of the place.

“You know we can’t go together, right? Just go and I will follow shortly.” I told him.

“But I need you, Scarlett..” he said, nudging closer to me.

“I will satisfy you at the right time, Henry. Stop stressing me already.” I told him.

He looked at me in pain before leaving, slowly. I knew how he was feeling, but I couldn’t afford to give myself out at this time.

I wanted to achieve my goals before dwelling on anything more. A little while later, I left for my house.

The next morning, I prepared myself to go to the palace. I wanted to be there early.

I quickly freshened up and made a race towards the palace. It was really early, but the servants were already up.

I walked in and was surprised to see Laci here. Did she sleep here?

“Oh! Hi Scarlett. Are you here this early?” She asked, walking towards me.

“Yeah. I was so worried about Niyol that I couldn’t sleep. Did you sleep here?” I asked.

“No, I didn’t. I came here early this morning to check on him, but he is still sleeping,” she said.

“Oh! I have never seen Niyol so broken. He must love Koko a lot.” I said, forcing a smile.

“Yes, he does. That’s why he feels let down by our mother.” Laci replied.

A servant walked up to Laci and bowed, “Your highness, the Alpha needs your attention.”

“Oh! Is he awake already? I will…”

“I… I will… never… leave him…” she said boldly.

Laci and I rushed into his chamber in a panicked state and she held him tightly in an embrace. “What’s wrong with you? Is it hurting again? Why on earth are you feeling those pains?”

He couldn’t say anything as he just closed his eyes to control the emotions coming from him.

After sometime, the pain receded and he felt relaxed. Laci asked for iced blocks and she wrapped it on a cloth to place on his head.

She was doing it, when he finally noticed my presence. I bowed to him still looking worried. He smiled before looking away.

“She came this morning to check on you. I was with her when I heard your growl.” Laci explained.

“Are you alright, Niyol? What happened?” I asked, looking and sounding concerned.

He just smiled and shook his head, “It’s nothing. It’s probably because I haven’t eaten since last night. I will be fine.”

I nodded and offered to help Laci out, “Let me help out till you come back. You were supposed to go and see your son, right?”

Laci was reluctant to leave, but he urged her, “Go on. And take care of him before coming. I am fine and I won’t be weak anymore. I will stay strong for you and Koko.”

She nodded and left.

As she left, I smiled secretly. ‘Yes! I was going to do all I can to get Niyol.’

I took the cloth and started putting it on his head from time to time.

“Hold on, let me lie on the bed. It would be more comfortable and easier for you,” he said, his face was still filled with pains.

It seemed he was still feeling uncomfortable. I held him and gently led him to the bed. Just as I wanted to leave, my knee got hooked in my gown and I tripped on his muscular chest.

I was still on his chest when we heard the clearing of throat. I immediately sat up straight and lifted my head to see who it was.

He had never been with any girl before. I knew of his crush for me, but I really didn’t want him because he can’t offer me anything.

At least, Henry would become an alpha after his father’s death. Even though it would be just an ordinary alpha, compared to Niyol who was the alpha king. But Chester had nothing to offer me.

I saw pain flash through his eyes which he quickly hid. The girl beside him, gave me a hateful glare which she immediately covered with a smile.
