Twice Rejected -
Chapter 59
Niyol’s POV
I watched as the girl Chester brought asked questions about Scarlett.
Juliana Roberts. I wonder why she had taken up the case. Could it be because of Chester? And what was the issue about Scarlett?
Was she suspicious of Scarlett? To be honest, I was also suspicious of her at first until she stood up to my mother.
I trusted that she wouldn’t have anything to do with Koko’s disappearance, afterall, she was against my mother’s idea. She even rejected my mother’s proposal to her.
Then I saw her turn to me and said,” Your majesty, can I take a look at Koko’s room? We can all go together. It’s likely that we might find a clue or two from there.”
I nodded and led the way, but my beta whispered to me to just stay behind if I wasn’t up to the task. It was not that I wasn’t up to the task. It’s just that I was gradually becoming weaker.
It must be something related to Koko. It was strange because I haven’t marked her yet. I wasn’t supposed to feel like this. So, I wonder why I was feeling like that.
We got to her room and a wave of nostalgia hit me. I felt sad all of a sudden and it seemed like I was seeing Koko everywhere.
Her laughter rang in my ears. Her shy face popped up in my memory and even her m***s were sounding in my ears. I felt drained all of a sudden, emotionally.
I tried to hold back the hurt I was feeling. Luckily, Laci and Juliana were focused on searching for evidence in the room.
I caught Chester staring at me and I told him not to alert them. I would rather signal for him to follow my lead.
“Miss, I think Chester and I have to handle some business. Can you guys keep searching? You can meet me up at my chamber when you are done.” I told them, turning to leave.
Without waiting for their answer I immediately left with Chester following me closely.
When we got to my chamber, I slumped on the couch stifling my m***s. The pain I was feeling was very excruciating and I felt weak every time.
I knew in my heart that it was connected to Koko. I felt bad for not being able to reach out to her even when I called myself the alpha king.
I was truly pitiable for someone with such powers, yet powerless when it came to protecting the woman he loves.
If I, who wasn’t the one getting beaten up, could feel such pain, what about Koko? How much pain does she have to bear? What was she passing through right now?
“Niyol, you’re turning extremely pale. Do you want me to call the doctor? Have you been sick for a long time?” Chester asked, looking worried.
“Not the doctor, Chester. I think I will need a healer. I really don’t understand the way I am feeling.”
“The healer? Are you having an emotional breakdown because of Koko?”Chester asked.
“It’s worse than that, Chester. It feels like I am suffering alongside Koko. For every pain she has been receiving, I am also feeling it over here. In fact, I am feeling hurt and battered all over my body. I don’t know how to control it?” I explained to Chester.
He looked at me incredulously, Wow, “I never knew you were this fast? You marked her already?”
I shook my head, denying it. “Believe me, I haven’t marked her yet. That’s why I am feeling confused.”
“That’s impossible. You can’t have those feelings unless you have marked your mate. How come you are feeling everything? This is not good at all.” Chester said, his face failing to hide his fear and anxiety. “It has to stop. If anything should happen to Koko, you are going to be worse off than when you lost Erika.”
Of course I knew that, but I wasn’t bothered. I actually didn’t mind as long as I got to share in koko’s pain too. It just saddened me that I couldn’t go out there to look for her.
It was becoming harder to bear, but I still kept trying to act brave. I needed to be strong so I could take half of her pains, if not all.
“What are you planning to do now? You are becoming weaker. If this keeps up, we don’t know how it’s going to affect you. I have already sent a mind link to the healer, he would be here in fifteen minutes.”
“Tell him to make it five. I don’t want Laci knowing too much about this.” I said.
Chester looked at my absurd request. “Fine but that would mean he would come in his wolf form”
“Tell the Butler to provide an outfit for him.” I said, cutting him off.
Five minutes later, an old man was led to my chamber. He was the chief healer of the pack. I only consulted him when the situation was not explainable medically.
“Your majesty, I am honored to be in your presence. How can I be of help to you?” He asked, bowing.
I offered him a chair, and explained what I was passing through.
After a while, he cleared his throat and proceeded with his explanation.
“Your majesty, even though you haven’t marked her, it’s obvious you already bonded with her… I mean in body.”
I didn’t understand what he meant at first, but then I understood after a while when Chester tried to hide his grin.
“Your mate’s wolf is a very special breed of wolf. They link themselves to the one they are in love with and once a part of that person accepts them, they automatically bond to them a little. But when the mate connects their feeling through their body, they are connected fully.”
“These breeds of wolves are very sensitive. They feel their mates and protect them at all costs. No matter where the mate is, they will always feel it when they are in danger. It starts from a pain in their hearts.”
“And for their mates they also feel the same.”
As I listened to his explanation, I remembered how Koko came to meet me at the war front when we were about to lose the battle. She didn’t even know where I was, but surprisingly her wolf brought her to the battlefield.
Then something ran across my mind. “Does that mean my wolf can still track her? Since she was able to track me?”
“It’s quite possible, but it would only work if she is in her wolf form. You can only get access to her in her human form when you mark her.”
I nodded, a little bit disappointed. I knew it would be hard to find her then, because I know they won’t let her shift.
“What about the pain? Is there something I can do to help? I mean, if I can feel this excruciating pain, I wonder how she must be feeling too. What can I do to help her?”
“There is no solution to that, your Majesty. All you have to do is bring her into your heart and console her there. That’s the best you can do for now. You are also going to feel the pain as long as she is in pain.” He explained.
“Thank you, Elder Gravis. I will come to you personally with her so you can check her wolf.” I told him.
Elder Gravis stood up and bowed. He left with the Butler.
As soon as the healer left, the door to my chamber flung open in full force as the two women barged in.
“Brother, we found this letter under the pillow in JoJo’s room. Your hunch was right, she was indeed called out to that place! And guess who wrote it?” Laci said as soon as they got into the room.
I didn’t need to guess as I quickly collected the letter from her and I felt strange all of a sudden. Chester, seeing my strange face, took the piece of paper and looked at it.
“Henry?” He asked, more surprised than me.
“Yes, that’s what the letter said, but we can’t rule out the possibility that this man might have been framed too because it’s obvious he was her only friend apart from Princess Laci.” Juliana analyzed.
“Yes, that’s a possibility, but we need to find out if this is the truth also. How do we verify the authenticity of the letter?” Laci asked.
“First, we will need to get anything containing Henry’s handwriting and then we have to get the person who delivered the letter. That’s if it wasn’t handed personally.” Juliana responded.
I called in my Butler.
When he came in, I asked about the progress in getting the servant.
“Your majesty, we couldn’t find her in her apartment and it seems she left the pack they same day she attended to Miss Koko.” the Butler replied.
Juliana touched her cheek and answered, “That’s another suspicious turn of events. Can you fill me in on this servant?”
The Butler explained to her briefly about the servants and I also told her of my previous analysis including the suspicion towards my mother.
After some time, she looked conflicted. “As much as the little things point toward the Queen mother as the biggest suspect, it still might not be correct. What if someone is trying to sway our direction towards her while they stay hidden?”
That was also a possibility that I didn’t even want to consider, because of her meanness towards Koko. I didn’t strip her off her title because I felt she was guilty. I did it because she never felt guilty towards Koko.
“And I would like to talk to your mother. I need to ask her some questions.” Juliana said.
“Alright, I will send someone to bring her over to the palace. I hope we resolve this case… arrrgh!” There was another wave of pain all over my body.
I closed my eyes tightly and began to vision Koko in my head. I started speaking to her in my mind. After five minutes, the pain receded and I finally opened my eyes.
Laci was looking at me, her face filled with tears. “Hey! Stop this! I am fine.”
“Silly, I am not crying because of you. If you can feel the pain to this extent, I wonder what my Koko must be going through.”
I smiled faintly. That was my biggest concern too.
“Alpha, we need to call Henry in for questioning. Also, we will need something to verify the handwriting.” Juliana responded.
I nodded and passed out instructions to get hold of any written document of Henry, while Chester also dispatched troops to search for the missing servant.
I also sent some guards to bring Henry to the palace.
