Twice Rejected -
Chapter 71
Scarlett’s POV
Last night was cold and I couldn’t get a good sleep. My thoughts were all jumbled up as I thought of many things. First, it was Koko’s kidnap, second was the arrival of Julianna and now, we needed a plan to clear things up.
I didn’t know why this Koko’s case became different. Like, she wasn’t the first person to get kidnapped. Why was hers difficult?
I sighed and stepped down from the bed. I had to visit the palace today and act as the Alpha’s maid again. Gosh! I couldn’t wait for all these to be over.
I had my bath and rubbed a bit of lotion on my perfect and flawless skin. I flipped through my wardrobe and settled for a white off shoulder gown. It wasn’t too long or too short. It was moderate. If I wanted to please the Alpha, I should probably put on something that described a princess. I packed my hair in a messy bun and applied pink lipstick.
I checked myself out in the mirror. “You can’t resist me for long, Alpha Niyol. Sooner or later, you will become mine and Koko will be out of the picture.” Satisfied with my looks, I smiled and stepped out of the house.
“Where are you off to?” My dad’s Butler asked. I almost ripped his throat apart because of that silly question. Since when did I become answerable to him?
“Where is my dad?” I asked instead.
“He isn’t out yet.” The Man answered.
I rolled my eyes. “Good day.” I said in a sarcastic tone before leaving.
While I was driving, my phone suddenly started ringing and I answered it. “Hello, Henry… Okay… I’ll be right there.”
I turned the car around and drove towards the pack. Henry had asked to meet me there. His voice sounded a bit off like something came up. I stopped at the park and got down. Looking ahead, I saw him standing beside a swing. The park was still empty since it was still the early hours of the morning.
“Be fast with whatever you want to tell me. I was on my way to the palace before seeing your call.” I said.
“We need to hasten up our plans.” He said and I became all the more confused.
Weren’t we hastening up already?
“Yes. We talked about it yesterday,” I said In a bid to remind him in case he had forgotten so soon.
“I mean we need to hasten up more than that.”
“Why?” I asked.
“Keep your voice down.” He shushed me and I nodded.
“What happened?” I asked.
“I think someone recognized us while we talked yesterday.”
“How are you sure?” I asked him.
As far as I knew, that spot belonged to the two of us. We were the only people aware of the place. How then could someone else come there?
“He met me and was talking about how he saw us together. I had to play smart on him and confuse him.” Henry said.
I was surprised. How did the person know that place? “Was he a passerby?” I asked.
“I think so.” Henry answered.
“You said you confused him right?” I asked.
“Yes but I don’t know how long he can hold on. We need to step up our plans. We must kill Julianna and end Koko’s life immediately.” Henry said.
“We will do that. Let me go to the palace to avoid suspicious questions and stares.” I said as I played with my car keys.
“You can go first. We must not be seen in open places anymore. It isn’t safe for our reputation.” Henry ruffled his hair and left the other way. I turned back and entered my car, driving straight for the palace.
I got to the palace and made my way inside. I used my eyes to scan the place to see if that annoying girl that called herself “an investigator” was around… When I didn’t see her, I smiled and headed straight for the Alpha’s bedroom.
I was about to turn the doorknob when I remembered that a good wife would serve him breakfast in bed. I smiled at that thought and left the doorknob, making my way to the kitchen.
“Good morning, Scarlett.” The maids bowed and I smiled. Very soon, you all will call me Luna.
“Um… Is breakfast ready yet?” I asked them as I walked in.
“Yes. The other maids are already setting up the dining table.” One of them answered.
“Okay. I would like to serve the alpha by myself today. So, I need you to give me his own food.” I said.
“The Alpha isn’t visiting the dining room today?” She asked me.
“I want to serve him breakfast in bed.” I replied, tucking strands of hair behind my ears.
“Oh” She smiled as she got what I meant.
She dished the Alpha’s food and placed them in a tray before handing them over to me.
“Thanks.” I took it and started leaving the kitchen. I almost bumped into Chester, who happened to be coming into the kitchen at the same time too.
“Sorry about that.” He apologized, rubbing the back of his head.
“No problem.” I answered and was about to leave, but he held my hand. I looked at his hand on mine then back at his face. He quickly removed his hand and cleared his throat.
“Is that food for the Alpha?” He asked me.
I rolled my eyes internally. Isn’t it obvious? “Yes. I want to serve him breakfast.” I said. I didn’t wait for him to say anything before walking away.
It would be better if he accepted the fact that I wanted nothing to do with him. There was nothing he could offer me in this world and probably the next.
“Scarlett.”
I turned as I heard Princess Laci’s voice. It seemed like she just arrived.
“Good morning, Princess Laci.” I smiled at her.
“Hope you slept well.” She smiled back.
“Yes, I did. How about you?” I asked.
“I’m good,” She answered. “Are you going to my brother’s room?” She asked, her gaze fixed on the tray in my hand.
“Yeah. I want to serve him breakfast. Right now, he needs all the care in the world.” I answered and she smiled.
“You are correct. He is going through a lot right now. How I wish there is a way to take his pain away.” She sighed.
“That is why we are here for him. He needs us by his side now more than ever. It is our duty to make it bearable for him.” I said.
She smiled. “You’re a good soul.”
“Everything will be fine, okay?” I smiled at her.
“Okay” She smiled back at me.
“Let’s go and see him.” I said and led the way to the room.
I knocked on the door.
“Come in.”
I turned the doorknob and the door opened. Laci stepped in first and ran to meet him.
“Good morning, Laci.” Niyol greeted her with a small smile.
“Morning. You look a little better this morning. I am glad.” Laci said.
“You see? That is why I told you not to worry.” I walked towards them with the tray of food in my hands.
“Scarlett, you’re here early today.” Niyol said.
I smiled and placed the tray on the bedside table. “Good morning, Alpha. I wanted to be the one to serve you breakfast today. That is why I decided to come early.” I said.
“That is so nice of you.” He rubbed his eyes.
“You look better this morning.” I smiled as I dished the food into a flat plate.
“I think so, but I am aching all over my body.” He replied.
“Do you need some pain reliefs? Maybe fruits?” Laci asked.
“Stop worrying too much. I will be fine.” He patted her head.
“I want you to be fine, that’s why.” She said.
I scoffed inwardly at their display of love.
“I will be fine” He assured her.
I forced a smile after I was done dishing the food, I stretched my hand to him. “Please, take the food and eat. It will help to strengthen you, you will need it.” I said.
He reluctantly took the food from me and I turned to fetch the juice into a glass cup.
“Don’t tell me you do not want to eat this food.” Laci scolded him. It seemed she had noticed his reluctance.
“Why would you say that? Of course I want to eat it.” Niyole replied.
“Your expression is saying something different.” Laci folded her arms.
“It is because the food is still hot,” Niyol said. He was looking for an excuse to keep the food down for later.
“It isn’t that hot, Niyol. Do you want me to feed you then?” She asked in a teasing manner, but I knew she meant it.
“I should be the one telling you that,” Niyol smiled.
“Then you need to eat. Do you want Koko to feel sad when she comes back and sees how much weight you’ve lost?” Laci asked rhetorically.
I snickered at their useless hope. It was high time they accepted the fact that Koko won’t be coming back to them because I was going to end her life before she would be found. Niyol is mine alone.
“Good morning, Alpha Niyol.”
I stopped what I was doing when I heard the voice of the person I had been trying to avoid. Not that I was scared of her or anything, but her attitude pissed me off and I didn’t want to look bad before the Alpha.
“Julianna, Good morning. How was your night?” Niyol asked.
She looked at me and winked. “My night was fine, your grace.” She answered.
I was about to stand up from where I sat when the juice I was holding spilled all over my white dress. They all turned to look at me with questioning gazes. I could see a smirk on the she-devil’s lips.
