Sophie’s POV

The boys surely are being very overbearing when it comes to Lady Jessabelle’s safety, but I could tell she didn’t want them going with her. So I agreed to go into town with her. “Thank you Sophie.” I turned and it was Alpha Raphael. “Why are you thanking me alpha? I simply was helping Lady Jessabelle.” He laughed and said “Sophie, there is no need to address me formally. You can just call me Raphael and you definitely would want to drop the ‘Lady Jessabelle’ thing when you are with her. She won’t correct you when other packs are around, but when you are with friends. She prefers to be called Jess.” I realized that was ture.

“Why doesn’t she want one of the triplets with her on this trip?” Raphael looked to make sure no one was around. Then he leaned in close to whisper “It is because she is going to see an old friend in town and they are the kind of creature most wolves wouldn’t want to be around. Only Jess and I know what this person is and don’t hold anything against them. Please don’t freak out or say anything to anyone once you return.” I was still confused but I nodded and then jumped as I heard an engine roar to life and the smell of burning rubber hit my nose.

Next thing I knew I saw a huge pickup truck pull up. It had a nice custom paint job. The base was a dark navy blue and it had white wolves running under the starry night sky painted on the side. The windows were also really black, they must have been tinted. The driver side window rolled down and Jess popped her head out. “Come on Sophie! We are burning daylight.” The triplets were shocked, Jess smirked their way when she saw that their mouths were hanging open. “Whose truck did she hijack?” Zero asked. Ryan started laughing behind him. “That’s her truck. She never lets anyone touch it except for me, Jorge, and Raphael. We only help her with the maintenance on it though.”

I ran up to the other side of the truck and had to basically jump into the front seat. Dam this truck sits so high. It feels like one of those monster trucks in those durbies you see on tv. “I would buckle up if I were you Sophie and hang on tight.” Jorge yelled from the front door. “Don’t worry I won’t let little Sophie get hurt. My baby can handle anything.” Jess said as she reached for the radio. She pushed the on button and the bass in this thing was on another level. The whole truck shook as the song “Red Lipstick” by Speed Gang came on. Jess waved to the boys and stepped on the gas hard. God Dammit! She drives worse than Sasha. As soon as we got into town, Jess turned off the radio and rolled her window down all the way.

“So what was so important that you had to get it today?” I asked her. She smiled and said “We are going to see a very important friend of mine and Raphael. I’m gonna ask her to take some of my hair and some of Midnight’s fur to make some special gifts for the twins and Star. Maybe it will help mostly the twins know that I am always here for them.” We stop on the other side of town. Jess parked and once we got to the door she knocked. There was no answer, so Jess just opened the door and walked in. Once we both were in, she locked the door behind us. “Angel, You here? I got a favor I need from you and I don’t have much time.” As soon as she finished her sentence the floor gave out from under us and we fell into a dark room.

I braced to hit a hard ground, but I didn’t. I was floating. I gasped and Jess was laughing. “Ok, ok angel you had your fun put us down and stop scaring the poor girl.” I heard giggling coming from the shadows. “Is this a new friend? Finally a new face.” a soft voice called out. I was then gently lowered to the ground where I could stand again. Jess looked at me. “Sorry about that. She doesn’t get to see new people very often. So she can be a bit of a prankster. Even for being an old bat. Haha-Owww”

Jess g*****d and I saw that a small metal washing tub had fallen on her head. “Who the hell are you calling an old bat you brat?!” Then out of the shadows came a small woman. She was a little on the short side. I was around 5’6 and this woman seems to be around 5’3. She was a very beautiful woman with sea blue hair and yellow amber eyes. I caught a sweet scent of lemon, mint, and an earthy smell mixed in. Then it hit me. “You’re a witch?” I whispered, but she heard me. She just smiled at me. Not a wicked smile or an evil one, just a kind regular smile I would give to my siblings.

“Yes dear I am a witch. Most creatures despise me, even my own kind. I have lived here under Alpha Raphael’s protection. I am a white witch. I want nothing but peace so I would never harm those weaker than me.” Jess came over to me after she finished rubbing her head. “Yea a lot of the medical herbs we use in the hospital are recipes of hers. Before anything else happens Sophie please meet Sabrina Moonblade. Angel this is Sophie, the future luna of the Red Moon pack.” I tilted my head in confusion. “Wait so is her name Sabrina or Angel?” I asked Jess. The witch was the one that answered.

“My name is Sabrina. This little tomboy brat just calls me angel for who knows what reason.” Jess faked being hurt after Sbrina’s comment. “Oh you hurt me so deep angel. I don’t know how I will survive knowing your true thoughts.” After a minute of silence Jess and Sabrina burst out laughing. “No, I call her angel because she is one. She has helped so many people in the pack hospitals that I wish she was more comfortable with others so we could have her live in the pack house with us.” Jess said. Sabrina nodded. “After about a century of people trying to kill you for being different I just prefer to be alone. So anything new to share Jess?”

Jess spent the next hour telling Sabrina all about the last two days. Sabrina looked like she lit up hearing about the outside world. “Wow you had an eventful couple days. I wish I could meet these triplet alphas. They better treat you like the queen you are, and the same goes for you Sophie. That pup, Roy, better be a better man than he was last time.” I smiled. “Roy has been a sweet mate to me since we found each other, plus Jess and him made peace about the past. So no worries here.”

Sabrina smiled and then turned to Jess again. “Ok so what do you need from me this time Jess?” “I would like you to make three special charms for me angel. I’m leaving for Raven Moon tonight and the kids are not taking it so well. I was thinking you could use my hair and some of Midnight’s fur to make some kind of pendent for them. How about it?” Sabrina thought it over for a moment. “Hmmm. I think I have the perfect charms for that. Let me check.” Sabrina disappeared into the back for a while. We heard some clunking and banging. Then Sabrina cursed after we heard a big smack sound.

She came back out with some bottles and chains. “Now shift first please Jess.” She said while setting stuff down. Jess quickly undressed and shifted. This was the first time I saw her wolf. She was beautiful midnight black. Her name really suited her. Sabrina cut some of her fur and placed the clippings into three separate bowls. “Ok shift back now.” Jess did and got dressed. Sabrina twirled her finger to get Jess to turn around to see her hair. After Jess turned around Sabrina grabbed her long ponytail and was looking at how much she needed.

“Ok so for three charms Jess, I’ll have to cut your gorgeous hair to just under your shoulders. Is this why you grew it all the way to your butt?” Jess laughed. “No I grew it out because Maria loved brushing it. I don’t mind short hair. Just go ahead and make the charms.”

Sabrina nodded and clipped the ponytail right under Jess’s shoulders, divided that hair into the same three bowls she put Midnight’s fur in. She then started pouring different kinds of liquids and powders into each bowl. “What are you trying to protect them from that you want me using both your wolf’s fur and your hair?” Sabrina asked Jess while still pouring stuff into the bowls. Jess looked down for a moment in a very serious expression. “The Moon Goddess only told me his first name, but I am being targeted by a hybrid vampire wolf named William. I want to protect the children from him so he can’t use them to get to me.” I noticed that Sabrina stiffened at the mention of this man’s name.

“Do you know him?” I asked her. Sabrina didn’t answer me. Jess looked up to her to ask again, but Sabrina raised her hand. “I will explain, but not here.” She quickly started chanting a spell and placed a chain in each. The bowls began to glow and shine. I had to cover my eyes. When the light faded and I looked back. Sitting in each bowl were beautiful silver pendants each with a different color stone in the center. One was a deep blue, another was a deep green, but the last one was a wonderful swirl of both. “The stones coordinate with yours and Midnight’s eyes. The blue goes to the boy, solid green for the older girl and for the baby the mix. They must wear them at all times. Even in the shower. Have them never take them off” Sabrina said. Jess nodded and grabbed them from the bowls and placed them in her breast pocket of her jean jacket. “Oh and if the twins put theirs together there is a surprise for them.” She added with a bright smile.

Sabrina then turned and grabbed something off the shelf and handed it to Jess as well. “I need you to snap this when you are with Raphael and everyone else that knows about this hybrid. I will share all I know when with everyone.” Jess looked shocked. “You are really going to meet with the others, but before you said only Raphael and I could come see you. I was surprised you didn’t kick Sophie out as soon as we got here.”

Sabrina shook her head and smiled. “My time hiding has come to an end. This man must be stopped and I know you are the one to do it, but I know I also need to help you.” Jess was over the moon and jumped up and hugged Sabrina like she did when her and Alex had repaired their bond. Sabrina laughed and said that she had stuff to finish up quickly before she met up with everyone so she shooed us out the door.

“Ready Sophie?” Jess turned and got back into her monster truck. I felt something in my hand before I turned around to Jess and looked down. Some ear plugs had magically appeared in my hands. I snapped my head back to Sabrina’s door and saw her smiling at the window. I smiled and giggled a bit. I put them in before I climbed up the monster truck. As soon as it roared to life Jess blasted the radio loudly like she did when we left the pack house. I smiled to myself as Jess was jamming and I could listen without losing my hearing.

Sabrina’s POV

I watched as Jess and Sophie drove away in that loud monster that Jess calls her baby. I hope Sophie’s ears will be ok. I did give her those ear plugs and she seemed to be grateful. I casted my eyes downward and pulled out a locket from under my shirt and opened it. Why did they have to surface again in my life? Why couldn’t they have just left Jess alone? “Tasha, what are you and William planning with all this?” I asked an old photo that I had in my locket. I took a deep breath and closed the locket. “No, no. They will not have Jess. This madness has to end. Even if I must do what I should have done all those years ago.” I say to myself over and over again as I start packing up my place into one magical bag that fits everything I have into it. Being a witch has its perks.
